Does the GTX3071R Gen II Super Core include a turbine housing?

No. The GTX3071R Gen II Super Core is the center section with the Gen II compressor housing attached. Garrett offers GT30 turbine kits for it in free-float T3 or V-band inlet form and in internally wastegated T3 form, so the exhaust side can be matched to the manifold and wastegate plan.

What power will a GTX3071R Gen II support?

Garrett gives it 340 to 675 horsepower on engines from 1.8L to 3.0L. The rating is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. Getting near the top takes the fuel system, intercooling, boost and calibration to match, and most street builds will sit well below it.

Should I pick the GTX3071R or the GTX3076R Gen II?

Both share the 60mm turbine and GT30 housings. The GTX3071R uses a 54mm compressor inducer and spools sooner, which suits engines aimed at 400 to 550 horsepower. The GTX3076R Gen II moves to a 58mm inducer and a 750 horsepower rating for builds that need more airflow at the top.

Can I keep my existing GT30 turbine housing?

Yes. Garrett states that all GTX Gen II turbochargers are compatible with existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits, and its GT30 kits are listed as interchangeable with GT, GTX Gen I and GTX Gen II 30 Series cores. The housing must be standard rotation to match this core.

Do I need a speed sensor with this core?

It is the safest way to run it. Garrett sets the maximum allowable speed at 140,000 rpm, and a sensor in the machined compressor housing port reports shaft speed so the tune stays inside the limit. The port is plugged from the factory, and the Garrett sensor kit is sold separately.

Description

Garrett GTX3071R Gen II Super Core, 54mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s GTX3071R Gen II Super Core is the smallest GTX30 Gen II core, a 54mm compressor inducer over a 60mm turbine, rated by Garrett at 340 to 675 horsepower on engines from 1.8L to 3.0L. It is the GT30 frame choice for a builder who values boost response: a 2.0L aiming for 400 to 500 horsepower, or a 3.0L six that wants a quick-spooling single. Past 600 horsepower the GTX3076R Gen II gives more compressor headroom from the same frame. This standard rotation core replaces Garrett’s earlier GTX3071R super core.

What Gen II Changed

The compressor wheel was redeveloped with computational fluid dynamics analysis, and Garrett says the update can deliver up to 20 percent more horsepower than the previous GTX3071R. A new high-flowing compressor housing matches the wheel, with machined inlet, outlet and ported shroud. Garrett runs the rotating group on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge to cut shaft motion.

Features

Machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory
Works with all existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits, per Garrett
Outline interchangeable with the GT and GTX Gen I equivalents, keeping existing piping

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The GTX3071R Gen II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.8L to 3.0L
Power range: 340 to 675 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT30 free-float kits: T3 inlet in 0.63, 0.82 or 1.06 A/R; V-band inlet in 0.61, 0.83 or 1.01 A/R
Garrett GT30 wastegated kits: T3 inlet, 5-bolt outlet in 0.63, 0.82 or 1.06 A/R

Notes

The turbine housing is not included
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
Turn 14 lists this part as replacing the earlier GTX3071R super core 836042-5002S
A reverse rotation GTX3071R Gen II is also listed

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
