Who is the 0.61 A/R GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit for?

The 0.61 A/R GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit suits smaller engines in the 1.8L to 3.0L range and builds that want boost early. The compact V-band housing raises exhaust velocity into the turbine, so the turbocharger responds sooner than with the 0.83 A/R, at the cost of more backpressure near redline.

Will this fit a V-band manifold?

Yes. The housing uses V-band connections at both the turbine inlet and outlet, so it needs a manifold with a V-band turbine flange and a V-band downpipe. Because it is free float, the manifold also needs an external wastegate to control boost.

What is inside the kit?

Garrett supplies the 851154-5002S GTX3071R Gen II super core, compressor housing included, and the 740902-0036 GT30R turbine housing kit in separate boxes, along with a gasket kit. The core replaces the earlier 836042-5002S, and the owner bolts the housing on before installation.

What did Gen II change on the GTX3071R?

Gen II updated the compressor aerodynamics, which Garrett says lets the turbocharger produce up to 20 percent more horsepower than the previous version, and added a fully machined speed sensor port. It runs on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge and stays outline interchangeable with the Gen I unit, so piping carries over.

Is a reverse-rotation version available?

Garrett lists a reverse-rotation GTX3071R Gen II super core, 844621-5003S, and reverse V-band housings in 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R for twin-turbo layouts. This kit is the standard-rotation version, so the reverse parts are a separate order. Check rotation before ordering a second turbocharger for a twin setup.

Description

Garrett GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit, 0.61 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit with the 0.61 A/R V-band housing is the quickest-spooling way to run Garrett’s 54mm GTX30 Gen II compressor, pairing super core 851154-5002S with GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0036 for an external wastegate manifold. Garrett rates the core at 340 to 675 horsepower on 1.8L to 3.0L engines. The small V-band housing suits a 1.8L to 2.0L engine, or a street car that values midrange boost over a peak figure. On a 3.0L engine, or a build near 675 horsepower, the 0.61 A/R adds backpressure at high rpm, and the 0.83 A/R is the better partner.

Features

Gen II compressor wheel with a 54mm inducer, which Garrett says supports up to 20 percent more horsepower than Gen I
Fully machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory and opened with a 5mm Allen key
0.61 A/R free-float housing with V-band joints at both ends, clockable to the manifold and downpipe

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine housing: 0.61 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate: External (free float)
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

GTX3071R Gen II super core 851154-5002S with compressor housing
GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0036, 0.61 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Gasket kit

Applications

The GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.8L to 3.0L
Power range: 340 to 675 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Manifold requirement: V-band turbine flange with an external wastegate

Notes

Ships as an assembly kit: super core and turbine housing kit in separate boxes, bolted together by the installer
An external wastegate is required, because this turbine housing has no internal wastegate
The GT and GTX version of the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
More housing sizes for this core are in the GTX3071R Gen II range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
