Is this the GT3582R Super Core Garrett lists?

Yes. Garrett publishes 836033-5002S as the supercore part number on its GT3582R page, with a 61mm compressor inducer, 0.70 A/R compressor housing and 68mm turbine inducer. Turn 14 adds that it is the ported shroud version built on CHRA 836005-0003.

What horsepower is the GT3582R rated for?

Garrett gives the GT3582R Super Core a rating of 400 to 675 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 4.5L. The number is calculated from compressor choke flow and stands for potential flywheel horsepower. Supporting fuel, intercooling and a proper calibration are what turn that potential into a result.

What does the ported shroud do?

Garrett describes its ported shroud designs as a way to improve surge resistance, so the compressor can hold boost at lower airflow without surging. Turn 14 identifies this GT3582R core as the ported shroud part, while Garrett does not describe the shroud on its GT3582R page.

Will my GT35 turbine housing bolt on?

If it is a Garrett GT35 kit, yes. Garrett lists T3, T4 and V-band inlet free-float housings and two wastegated assemblies for the GT3582R, and states the GT35 kits interchange with GT, GTX Gen I and GTX Gen II 35 Series cores. Rotation must match as well.

GT3582R or GTX3582R Gen II for a new build?

The GT3582R keeps the cast GT Series compressor wheel and is a direct rebuild part. The GTX3582R Gen II has a 66mm machined Gen II wheel and Garrett rates it at up to 900 horsepower on the same GT35 housings, so a new build chasing more than 650 horsepower should lean toward the GTX.

Description

Garrett GT3582R Super Core, Ported Shroud

Garrett’s GT3582R Super Core, part 836033-5002S, is the supercore Garrett itself lists for the GT3582R, its mid frame GT Series turbocharger rated at 400 to 675 horsepower on 2.0L to 4.5L engines. Turn 14 describes it as the ported shroud version built on CHRA 836005-0003. The 61mm compressor and 68mm, 84 trim turbine make it a strong match for a 2.5L to 3.5L engine targeting 550 to 650 horsepower with a T3, T4 or V-band GT35 housing. For a street engine that rarely sees full boost, a GT30 frame core will be easier to live with.

GT35 Housing Options

Garrett pairs this core with a wide spread of GT35 turbine kits: free-float housings with T3 or T4 inlets in 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06 A/R, V-band inlet housings in 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R, and two internally wastegated assemblies. Garrett states those kits are interchangeable with GT, GTX Gen I and GTX Gen II 35 Series cores, so the housing stays useful if the core is upgraded later.

Features

Water-cooled CHRA with a ball bearing configuration

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 61mm and 82mm
Compressor trim: 56
Compressor housing A/R: 0.70
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine trim: 84
Bearing system: Ball bearing, water cooled

Applications

The GT3582R Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it this way:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 4.5L
Power range: 400 to 675 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT35 turbine kits: Free float in T3, T4 or V-band inlet, or internally wastegated in 0.63 or 0.82 A/R

Notes

The turbine housing is not included
Garrett’s wastegated GT35 assemblies do not include bolts, clamps or actuator
Garrett’s GTX3582R Gen II uses the same GT35 turbine kits with a newer compressor wheel

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
