What engine size is the GT2560R Turbocharger for?

Garrett lists the GT2560R Turbocharger for engines from 1.4L to 2.2L in its feature data and archive. It is best matched to a 1.6L to 2.0L four-cylinder upgrading from a factory or journal bearing turbo. A 2.5L engine or a build targeting more than 300 horsepower needs a larger frame.

How much horsepower will the GT2560R support?

Garrett rates it at 170 to 270 horsepower in its feature data and archive index. The figure is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. Garrett also shows 200 to 330 horsepower in one reference table, so treat 270 as the conservative ceiling.

Is the GT2560R ball bearing?

Yes. Garrett lists the GT2560R with a dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge in an oil and water cooled center housing. Ball bearings reduce friction compared with a journal bearing, which helps the turbo respond sooner, and the water cooling needs coolant lines run to the center section.

Does it come with the turbine housing and actuator?

Yes. Garrett sells the GT2560R as a complete turbo, including the turbine kit and the actuator. The turbine housing is a 0.64 A/R internally wastegated design, so no external wastegate is needed. Oil and coolant lines, gaskets and manifold flanges suited to the engine are separate.

Will the GT2560R fit in place of my current turbo?

That depends on the flanges and space on the engine. Garrett publishes a flange diagram on its product page but no flange names in its text, so compare the drawing with the existing manifold, downpipe and intake before ordering, or ask us to check the dimensions.

Description

Garrett GT2560R Turbocharger, 0.64 A/R Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s GT2560R Turbocharger is a small-frame GT Series turbo with a dual ceramic ball bearing, water cooled center section, a 0.80 A/R compressor housing and a 0.64 A/R internally wastegated turbine housing, sold complete with its turbine kit and actuator. In its feature data and turbo archive Garrett rates the GT2560R at 170 to 270 horsepower on 1.4L to 2.2L engines. That suits a 1.6L to 2.0L four-cylinder that wants quicker response and more flow than a factory journal bearing turbo. Builds aiming past 300 horsepower have outgrown it and should look at the GT28 frame.

GT Series Background

Garrett describes the GT Series as the line that pioneered its turbo technology in drag and road racing, with journal and ball bearing models from the GT2052 to the GT3582. The series uses cast compressor wheels for durability and offers internally wastegated turbine housings across its sizes.

Features

Dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge in an oil and water cooled center section
Original GT Series compressor and turbine aerodynamics
Internally wastegated 0.64 A/R turbine housing with actuator, supplied as a complete turbo

Specifications

Compressor trim and A/R: 60 and 0.80
Turbine inducer and exducer: 53mm and 42mm
Turbine trim and A/R: 62 and 0.64
Bearing system: Dual ceramic ball bearing
Cooling: Oil and water
Wastegate: Internal, actuator included

Applications

The GT2560R Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 2.2L
Power range: 170 to 270 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Garrett’s own GT2560R reference table shows 200 to 330 horsepower and 1.6L to 2.5L; this listing uses the 170 to 270 horsepower figure that its feature data and archive agree on
Garrett publishes speed sensor installation instructions for this turbo; the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett does not publish a maximum turbocharger speed for this model
For more power, see the GT2860R and GT2860RS in the GT28 frame

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
