Is the 1.40 A/R T6 the largest G55 Turbine Housing Kit?

Yes, it shares the largest size with the V-band inlet version. Garrett lists the G55 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a T6 inlet, and in 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a V-band inlet. This T6 version gives the most turbine flow on a T6 manifold.

What engines suit the 1.40 A/R?

Large-displacement engines that make high exhaust flow, especially when paired with the bigger G55 or GXR55 compressors. Garrett gives a 3.0L to 12.0L range for these cores, and the 1.40 A/R belongs toward the top of it, where a smaller housing would add backpressure.

Is this housing divided?

Garrett is not consistent on this part. The G55 product pages list it as undivided, while the GXR55-88, GXR55-91, GXR55-94 and GXR55-98 pages mark it divided. Confirm with Bulletproof Automotive before ordering if a twin-scroll manifold is planned, since a divided inlet changes how the manifold must be built.

Does it fit a GTX55 Gen II core?

Garrett does not list it for the GTX5533R or GTX5544R Gen II, which use a 102mm exducer turbine and their own GTX55 housings. This housing is listed only for the G55 and GXR55 cores with the 106mm exducer G-Series turbine wheel.

Will a speed sensor help with a large housing?

Yes. Garrett states a speed sensor can be installed to protect its turbochargers from overspeed, and lists maximum speeds of 84,000 rpm or 74,500 rpm on G55 cores and 75,000 rpm on GXR55 cores. The sensor fits the compressor housing, not the turbine housing, and is sold separately.

Description

Garrett G55 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.40 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s G55 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.40 A/R with a T6 inlet is the largest of the four T6 sizes Garrett lists for its G55 and GXR55 cores, a stainless free-float housing with a V-band outlet. It belongs on a big engine with a T6 manifold where the turbine needs to pass a lot of exhaust with as little backpressure as possible, typically with one of the larger compressor options. Fitted to an engine near the 3.0L end of Garrett’s range it will spool late and feel flat low down. For a V-band collector, the same A/R is sold as part 761208-0070.

Material and Layout

Garrett states its G55 turbine kits are stainless steel and sold individually, so the builder picks the A/R and inlet separately from the core. This size has a T6 inlet, a V-band outlet and no wastegate port, leaving boost control to an external gate on the manifold.

Features

Largest T6 inlet A/R in the G55 range
V-band outlet for a clamped downpipe joint
Stainless steel casting, sold individually from the core
The G55 Turbine Housing Kit fits eleven Garrett G55 and GXR55 cores

Specifications

Garrett part number: 761208-0074
A/R: 1.40
Turbine inlet and outlet: T6 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Turbine wheel: 112mm inducer, 106mm exducer
Material: Stainless steel

Applications

Garrett lists this G55 Turbine Housing Kit for these super cores:

Garrett G-Series G55 super cores: G55-1850, G55-1950, G55-2100, G55-2250, G55-2450, G55-2650 and G55-2900
Garrett G-XRace GXR55 super cores: GXR55-88 including its 0.18 in and 0.25 in map groove versions, GXR55-91, GXR55-94 and GXR55-98
Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power ratings of those cores: 1000 to 2900 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Super core sold separately; see Garrett GXR55 and G55 cores
An external wastegate is required, because the housing is free float
For quicker spool, Garrett offers 1.00 A/R, 1.12 A/R and 1.24 A/R T6 housings

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
