Does the 1.23 A/R G47 Turbine Housing Kit suit a large V8?

Usually, yes. The 1.23 A/R G47 Turbine Housing Kit flows more than the 0.96 and 1.08 sizes, which suits big-displacement engines in the 2.5L to 10.0L range Garrett quotes. Engines that live at very high rpm may go one step further to the 1.39.

Which G47 cores make the most of a large housing?

The ones with the largest compressors. The G47-1850 uses an 88mm compressor inducer and is rated to 1850 horsepower, and the GXR47-80 versions use an 80.9mm inducer and are rated to 1800. Both flow enough air to keep a larger turbine housing working.

Why is the G47 housing outlet shorter than a GTX housing?

Garrett states that the outlet length on the G47 T6 turbine housing was reduced by 17mm compared with the GTX version to save weight. Builders moving from a GTX47 setup should check downpipe length and clearance during the mock-up, since the outlet face sits in a different place.

Is this housing stainless steel?

Yes. Garrett describes the G47 turbine housings as stainless steel with a T6 inlet flange. Garrett does not publish a temperature rating on the G47 pages, so exhaust gas temperature should be watched during tuning, particularly at high boost and on long pulls.

What maximum shaft speed applies?

Garrett publishes 102,500 rpm for the G47-1550, the 109mm exducer G47-1650 and all four GXR47 cores, and 93,000 rpm for the 120mm exducer G47-1650 and the G47-1850. Exceeding the limit is at the risk of the owner, so fitting a speed sensor is sensible.

Description

Garrett G47 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.23 A/R T6 Inlet V-Band Outlet

Garrett’s G47 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.23 A/R gives large G47 builds more exhaust flow, with a T6 inlet, a V-band outlet and a free-float layout in stainless steel. Garrett lists it for the G47-1550, G47-1650 and G47-1850 and the four GXR47 cores, the largest rated to 1850 horsepower. It suits a big V8 or a hard-revving engine toward the upper end of the 2.5L to 10.0L range, where backpressure in a smaller housing would limit power. A smaller engine will see boost late with it, and the 0.96 or 1.08 serves that engine better.

Features

T6 inlet and V-band outlet
External wastegate layout with no internal flapper
Third of four A/R sizes in the G47 Turbine Housing Kit lineup
Outlet length 17mm shorter than the GTX T6 housing, which Garrett did to save weight

Specifications

Garrett part number: 761208-0077
A/R: 1.23
Turbine inlet and outlet: T6 and V-band
Divided inlet: No
Wastegate: External (free float)
Material: Stainless steel
Matching turbine wheel: 93mm inducer and 88mm exducer

Applications

Garrett pairs this G47 Turbine Housing Kit with these super cores:

Garrett G47-1550: 880547-5023S super core
Garrett G47-1650, 109mm exducer: 880547-5024S super core
Garrett G47-1650, 120mm exducer: 880547-5025S super core
Garrett G47-1850: 880547-5026S super core
Garrett GXR47-76, 116mm exducer: 953234-5001S super core
Garrett GXR47-76, 123mm exducer: 953234-5006S super core
Garrett GXR47-80, 116mm exducer: 953234-5004S super core
Garrett GXR47-80, 123mm exducer: 953234-5007S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G47 or GXR47 super core is sold separately
Garrett publishes a maximum turbocharger speed of 102,500 rpm for most G47 and GXR47 cores and 93,000 rpm for the G47-1650 with 120mm exducer and the G47-1850; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Garrett also offers 0.96, 1.08 and 1.39 A/R versions
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
