What engines suit the 1.28 A/R V-band G45 Turbine Housing Kit?

Larger ones. The 1.28 A/R G45 Turbine Housing Kit suits engines in the upper half of the 2.0L to 8.0L range Garrett quotes, or high-rpm builds on smaller engines. It flows more than the 1.01 and 1.15 housings, so boost comes in somewhat later.

Is the G45 turbine wheel an improvement over the GTX45R?

Garrett states that the G-Series turbine aero on the G45 flows 14 percent more than the GTX45R and that its Inconel wheel, with an 89mm inducer, flows up to 56 lbs per minute. The wheel sits in the super core, and this housing is made to surround it.

Can I start with a G45-1475 and move to a GXR45 later?

Yes. Garrett states that GXR45 cores use the same T4 and V-band turbine housings as the G-Series, so this housing stays on the engine when the G45-1475 is replaced by any of the five GXR45 cores. A new calibration is still needed for the new compressor.

Do I need to buy a wastegate?

Yes. This free-float housing has no wastegate port, so boost control comes from an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold. With a free-flowing 1.28 A/R housing, size the gate generously so it can hold boost at high exhaust flow. The manifold also needs a flange for it.

What rotation is this housing?

Standard rotation. Turn 14 lists the G45 housings as standard rotation, and every core Garrett pairs with this one is standard rotation. Owners building a mirrored twin-turbo layout should check reverse-rotation options with us before ordering, because standard and reverse parts do not mix.

Description

Garrett G45 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.28 A/R V-Band Inlet and Outlet

Garrett’s G45 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.28 A/R with V-band connections gives larger single-scroll G45 builds the flow they need, in a stainless steel housing with clamped joints and no internal wastegate. Garrett lists it for nine cores, and it works best with the bigger compressors, such as the G45-1600 and the GXR45-76, -80 and -82, on engines from roughly 5.0L up. Boost comes in later than with the 1.01 or 1.15, so a small engine or a street car tuned for low-rpm torque is better served by one of those.

Free-float layout for an external wastegate
1.28 A/R, the third size in the V-band G45 Turbine Housing Kit range

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G45 or GXR45 super core is sold separately
Garrett publishes a maximum turbocharger speed for each core, from 100,000 rpm on the G45-1500, GXR45-76, GXR45-80 and GXR45-82 to 120,000 rpm on the G-Series II G45-1610; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Garrett also offers 1.01, 1.15 and 1.44 A/R and divided T4 versions
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
