Which drag racing classes is the G45-1500 Super Core sized for?

Garrett lists Sport Front Wheel Drive, Ultimate Street, Super Street and Street Fighter. Rules change from season to season and vary between sanctioning bodies, so check the current turbocharger limits for the class before ordering. Outside class racing, the core works on any 2.0L to 8.0L engine within its power range.

How is the G45-1500 compressor better than the GTX4508R?

Garrett states that the G45-1500 compressor aerodynamics increase flow by up to 18 percent compared with the 76mm GTX4508R. On the turbine side, the G-Series wheel flows 14 percent more than the GTX45R. Together they carry the rating to 1500 horsepower on the same inducer size.

What power will the G45-1500 Super Core make?

Garrett rates the G45-1500 Super Core at 750 to 1500 horsepower on 2.0L to 8.0L engines. That number is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, and the result on a dyno depends on fuel, boost, turbine A/R and the calibration.

What is the speed limit of the G45-1500?

Garrett lists 100,000 rpm for the G45-1500 and 114,000 rpm for the G45-1475, which uses a smaller 98mm exducer. Each wheel has its own limit, so always check the figure for the exact core. Running above 100,000 rpm is at the risk of the owner, and a speed sensor is the safeguard.

Does it need an external wastegate?

Yes. Every G45 turbine kit Garrett lists is a free-float design, in 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 or 1.44 A/R with a V-band or T4 divided inlet. None has an internal wastegate, so boost control comes from a separate gate mounted on the exhaust manifold ahead of the turbocharger.

Description

Garrett G45-1500 Super Core, 76mm Compressor Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G45-1500 Super Core uses a 76mm inducer, 109mm exducer compressor wheel with G-Series aerodynamics that Garrett says flow up to 18 percent more than the 76mm GTX4508R, and Garrett rates it at 750 to 1500 horsepower on 2.0L to 8.0L engines. Garrett sized it for drag racing classes including Sport Front Wheel Drive, Ultimate Street, Super Street and Street Fighter, and its 76mm inducer is the smallest compressor in the G45 range. For a class build it is the G45 to check against the rulebook first; for an unrestricted build the 80mm G45-1600 offers more headroom on the same turbine.

Turbine and Rotating Assembly

The 89mm Inconel turbine wheel flows up to 56 lb/min, and Garrett credits its G-Series aerodynamics with 14 percent more flow than the GTX45R. A dual ceramic ball bearing with steel cages and a lightweight aluminum backplate complete the rotating assembly.

Features

G-Series compressor aerodynamics with up to 18 percent more flow than the GTX4508R 76mm
Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports
Water fittings included with the super core

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 76mm and 109mm
Compressor trim: 49
Compressor housing A/R: 0.85
Turbine inducer and exducer: 89mm and 82mm
Turbine trim: 84
Bearing system: Dual ceramic ball bearing, steel cages
Maximum turbocharger speed: 100,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G45-1500 super core with compressor housing fitted
Water fittings

Applications

The G45-1500 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 8.0L
Power range: 750 to 1500 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G45 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R free float, each with a V-band inlet or a T4 divided inlet and a V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett sells the G45 turbine housing kits separately
All eight G45 turbine kits are free float, so an external wastegate is required
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 100,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
