Who should buy the 1.28 A/R G42 Turbine Housing Kit?

Builders after peak power on larger engines. The 1.28 A/R G42 Turbine Housing Kit flows the most of the three G42 sizes, so it suits displacement toward 7.0L or high-rpm engines running the larger-compressor cores. The trade is boost onset later than the 1.01 and 1.15.

Which G42 cores have the largest compressors?

The G42-1450 and G-Series II G42-1585 use a 79mm compressor inducer, and the GXR42-72 uses a 72.9mm inducer with a 102mm exducer. Garrett rates them at up to 1450, 1585 and 1450 horsepower respectively, and they make the best use of a large housing.

What does the turbine wheel measure?

Every core Garrett lists for this housing uses a turbine wheel with an 82mm inducer and a 75mm exducer. The housing is machined around that wheel, which is why it interchanges across the G42, G-Series II G42 and GXR42 cores without changes.

Does this housing take a V-band manifold?

No. This version has a divided T4 inlet for twin-scroll manifolds. Garrett sells the 1.28 A/R G42 housing with a V-band inlet as part 757707-0013 for manifolds ending in a single V-band collector. Both share the same A/R, outlet and core list, so the manifold alone decides which one to order.

What speed limits apply?

Garrett publishes 109,000 rpm for the GXR42-68 and GXR42-72, 114,000 rpm for the G42-1450, 118,000 rpm for the G42-1200 Compact and 120,000 rpm for the G-Series II cores and the GXR42-71. Exceeding the limit is at the risk of the owner, so a speed sensor is worth fitting.

Description

Garrett G42 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.28 A/R T4 Divided Inlet V-Band Outlet

Garrett’s G42 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.28 A/R is the largest twin-scroll G42 housing, with a divided T4 inlet, a V-band outlet and a free-float layout, cast in stainless steel. It suits engines that can feed it: displacement toward 7.0L, or high-rpm builds on the bigger-compressor cores such as the G42-1585, G42-1450 and GXR42-72. Those builds gain from the lower backpressure at the top end. A smaller engine will see boost later than with the 1.01 or 1.15, and a street car that cruises at low rpm is better off with one of those.

Features

Largest A/R in the G42 Turbine Housing Kit range
Divided T4 inlet for twin-scroll manifolds
V-band outlet and an external wastegate layout

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G42 or GXR42 super core is sold separately
Garrett publishes a maximum turbocharger speed for each core, from 109,000 rpm on the GXR42-68 and GXR42-72 to 120,000 rpm on the G-Series II cores and the GXR42-71; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Smaller sizes and V-band inlet versions are under G42 turbine housings
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
