What engines suit the 1.06 A/R V-band G40 Turbine Housing Kit?

Larger ones. The 1.06 A/R G40 Turbine Housing Kit suits engines toward the upper part of the 2.0L to 6.0L range Garrett gives for G40 cores, or high-rpm builds on smaller engines. It flows more than the 0.85 and 0.95 sizes, so boost comes in somewhat later.

Is the G40 turbine wheel an upgrade over the GTX4088R?

Garrett states that the G-Series turbine aero on the G40 flows 16 percent more than the GTX4088R, and that the Inconel wheel with a 77mm inducer flows up to 43 lbs per minute. This housing is made for that wheel, which sits in the G40 super core sold separately.

Will a GXR40-64 fit if I start with a G40-1150?

Yes. Garrett states that the GXR40-64 uses the same twin-scroll T4 and V-band turbine housings as the G-Series to make the upgrade easy. This housing therefore stays on the engine if the G40-1150 core is later replaced by the GXR40-64.

Do I need to buy a wastegate?

Yes. The housing is free float and has no internal wastegate port, so boost control comes from an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold. Size the gate for the engine and boost target, since a free-flowing 1.06 A/R housing passes a lot of exhaust at high rpm.

Does this listing include the compressor housing?

No. The compressor housing is part of the G40 super core, which Garrett sells separately along with the center section and rotating assembly. This kit covers the turbine side only, which lets the builder pick the exhaust housing size without changing the core.

Description

Garrett G40 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.06 A/R V-Band Inlet and Outlet

Garrett’s G40 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.06 A/R with V-band connections suits single-scroll G40 builds on larger engines, with a stainless steel casting, clamped joints at inlet and outlet, and no internal wastegate. Garrett lists it for the G40-900, G40-1150, G-Series II G40-1000 and G40-1250, and GXR40-64 super cores. It fits a 4.0L to 6.0L engine or a smaller one that revs hard and runs high boost, where a tighter housing would hold back power. On a small engine used mostly at part throttle, the 0.85 or 0.95 will feel far more responsive.

Features

V-band inlet and outlet, stainless steel
Free-float layout for an external wastegate
1.06 A/R, the third size in the V-band G40 Turbine Housing Kit range
Fits the 77mm by 70mm G-Series turbine wheel used on every listed core

Specifications

Garrett part number: 757707-0029
A/R: 1.06
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Divided inlet: No
Wastegate: External (free float)
Material: Stainless steel
Matching turbine wheel: 77mm inducer and 70mm exducer

Applications

Garrett pairs this G40 Turbine Housing Kit with:

Garrett G40-900: 860777-5003S super core
Garrett G40-1000 G-Series II: 938272-5001S super core, 938271-5001S CHRA
Garrett G40-1150: 860777-5002S super core
Garrett G40-1250 G-Series II: 938272-5002S super core, 938271-5002S CHRA
Garrett GXR40-64 G-XRace: 934173-5005S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G40 super core is sold separately
Garrett sets the maximum turbocharger speed at 125,000 rpm for the G40 and G-Series II G40 cores and 109,000 rpm for the GXR40-64; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Garrett also offers 0.85, 0.95 and 1.19 A/R and divided T4 versions
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
