Which cores fit the G40 Turbine Housing Kit?

Garrett lists this 0.85 A/R G40 Turbine Housing Kit for the G40-900, G40-1150, G-Series II G40-1000 and G40-1250, and the G-XRace GXR40-64. All five use the same 77mm by 70mm turbine wheel, so the housing moves with the owner through any of those core choices.

Is the 0.85 A/R the fastest-spooling G40 housing?

Yes. Of the 0.85, 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R G40 housings, the 0.85 has the smallest passage and drives the turbine wheel hardest at low exhaust flow. It suits engines toward 2.0L to 3.0L or builds that value response over peak power.

Will my GTX42 downpipe flange fit this housing?

Garrett states that the outlet V-band of the G40 T4 turbine housing measures 117.4mm, or 4.622 inches, outside diameter, equal to the GTX42, GTX45 and G42 models. A downpipe built for one of those housings should therefore match this outlet.

Do I need an external wastegate?

Yes. The housing is free float, with no internal wastegate port or actuator. Boost is held by an external wastegate mounted on the exhaust manifold ahead of the turbine, so the manifold needs a gate flange and the gate is bought separately.

Can I move from a G40-900 to a G-Series II core and keep this housing?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the Gen I compressor and turbine housings, so a G40-900 or G40-1150 owner can fit a G40-1000 or G40-1250 CHRA and keep this housing. A calibration is needed to use the extra compressor flow.

Description

Garrett G40 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.85 A/R T4 Divided Inlet V-Band Outlet

Garrett’s G40 Turbine Housing Kit in 0.85 A/R pairs a divided T4 twin-scroll inlet with a V-band outlet, in stainless steel and with no internal wastegate. It is the smallest of four A/R sizes Garrett offers for the G40 frame and fits five super cores, from the G40-900 to the G-Series II G40-1250 and the G-XRace GXR40-64, all sized for 2.0L to 6.0L engines. On a twin-scroll manifold this housing gives the quickest boost the G40 can offer, which suits a smaller six or a four-cylinder. A big V8 aiming at 1250 horsepower will outgrow it.

Construction

The stainless housing surrounds a G-Series Inconel turbine wheel with a 77mm inducer, which Garrett says flows up to 43 lbs per minute. Its outlet V-band measures 117.4mm across, the same as GTX42, GTX45 and G42 housings, so many existing downpipe flanges carry over.

Features

Divided T4 inlet for twin-scroll manifolds, V-band outlet for the downpipe
Free-float layout for an external wastegate
Smallest of four A/R sizes in the G40 Turbine Housing Kit range

Specifications

Garrett part number: 757707-0032

Turbine inlet and outlet: T4 divided and V-band
Divided inlet: Yes
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Standard
Material: Stainless steel
Matching turbine wheel: 77mm inducer and 70mm exducer
Outlet V-band: 117.4mm (4.622 in) OD, shared with GTX42, GTX45 and G42

Applications

Garrett lists this G40 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation cores:

Garrett G40-900: 860777-5003S super core
Garrett G40-1000 G-Series II: 938272-5001S super core, 938271-5001S CHRA
Garrett G40-1150: 860777-5002S super core
Garrett G40-1250 G-Series II: 938272-5002S super core, 938271-5002S CHRA
Garrett GXR40-64 G-XRace: 934173-5005S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G40 super core is sold separately
Garrett sets the maximum turbocharger speed at 125,000 rpm for the G40 and G-Series II G40 cores and 109,000 rpm for the GXR40-64; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Garrett also offers 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R and V-band inlet versions
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
