Is the G40-1250 G-Series II Super Core a direct swap for a G40-1150?

Yes. Garrett describes G-Series II as a direct upgrade path for first-generation owners, and the G40-1250 G-Series II Super Core shares the 71mm inducer, turbine and housings with the G40-1150. The turbine housing stays, and Garrett states that a calibration is required to make use of the extra flow.

How much power can the G40-1250 make?

Garrett rates it at 500 to 1250 horsepower for engines from 2.0L to 6.0L. That number comes from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the top of the range assumes an engine, fuel system and calibration built to use every bit of it.

Can I buy just the CHRA?

Yes. Garrett lists the G40-1250 CHRA as part 938271-5002S, which leaves out the compressor housing. Because the G-Series II compressor housing keeps the first-generation contour, a G40 owner can reuse the existing cover with the CHRA. This super core includes the compressor housing, which suits a new build.

What housings does it take?

Any of the eight G40 free-float turbine kits Garrett lists: V-band inlet or divided T4 inlet, each in 0.85, 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R. They are stainless steel, rated by Garrett to 1050 degrees Celsius, and none has an internal wastegate, so an external gate is required.

What is the speed limit of the G40-1250?

Garrett publishes a maximum allowable speed of 125,000 rpm, the same as the rest of the G40 range, and states that running above it is at the risk of the owner. Speed sensor kits are sold separately and fit the compressor housing to monitor shaft speed during tuning.

Description

Garrett G40-1250 G-Series II Super Core, 71mm Compressor

Garrett’s G40-1250 G-Series II Super Core is the highest-rated G40 in the Garrett range, a 71mm second-generation compressor on the Inconel G40 turbine, rated at 500 to 1250 horsepower on 2.0L to 6.0L engines. Garrett credits the new compressor aero with up to 10 percent more flow than the first generation at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed, and it uses the same housings as the G40-1150. It is for a fully built engine with fuel and cooling for four-figure output; at 900 horsepower or below it is more compressor than the engine can put to work.

One-Piece Center Housing

The center housing and backplate are a single piece, which Garrett says reduces potential failure points, and twin piston rings sit on both sides of the shaft to limit oil passing the seals. The Inconel turbine wheel flows 15 to 20 percent more than GTX and peaks at 74 percent efficiency, by Garrett’s figures.

Features

71mm compressor inducer, 88mm exducer, 65 trim, 0.80 A/R compressor housing
Increased compressor efficiency at high flow rates

Water fittings included

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 71mm and 88mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.80 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 77mm and 70mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 125,000 rpm

What’s Included

G40-1250 G-Series II super core with compressor housing fitted
Water fittings

Applications

The G40-1250 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 6.0L
Power range: 500 to 1250 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G40 turbine kits: Free float in 0.85, 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R, with V-band or divided T4 inlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G40 turbine housing kits for this core
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 125,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
