Does the G40-1150 Super Core come with a turbine housing?

No. The G40-1150 Super Core is the center housing rotating assembly with the 71mm compressor housing fitted, plus water fittings. The turbine housing is a separate purchase from the eight G40 free-float kits: 0.85, 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R, each with a V-band inlet or a divided T4 inlet.

How much horsepower is it rated for?

Garrett rates the G40-1150 at 500 to 1150 horsepower for 2.0L to 6.0L engines. The figure is calculated strictly from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so results depend on the engine, fuel, boost and tuning rather than on the turbocharger alone.

What is the difference between the G40-1150 and the G40-900?

Compressor size. The G40-1150 uses a 71mm inducer and the G40-900 a 62mm inducer, both with an 88mm exducer and the same turbine and housings. Garrett states the two are the same physical size, so one can replace the other without changing other turbo kit components.

Should I buy this or the G-Series II G40-1250?

The G40-1250 uses the same 71mm inducer and housings with second-generation compressor aero, which Garrett says adds up to 10 percent more flow at peak pressure ratio and speed, raising the rating to 1250 horsepower. Both share the 125,000 rpm limit. The G40-1150 suits builds that will finish near or under 1100 horsepower.

Will my G42 downpipe fit?

On the T4 turbine housings, the outlet flange matches. Garrett states that the G40 T4 housing outlet V-band, 117.4mm or 4.622 inches outside diameter, is equal to the GTX42, GTX45 and G42. Check the V-band inlet housings separately, and confirm the clamp and flange against the Garrett flange diagram.

Description

Garrett G40-1150 Super Core, 71mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G40-1150 Super Core is the 71mm version of the first-generation G40, a mid-frame turbocharger center section that Garrett rates at 500 to 1150 horsepower on 2.0L to 6.0L engines. It runs a dual ceramic ball bearing with steel cages and an Inconel turbine wheel, and Garrett says its compressor aero flows up to 32 percent more than the GTX4088R. It is the G40 for a built engine aimed past 900 horsepower; anything targeting less is better served by the 62mm G40-900, which shares the same housings.

Turbine Side

Garrett states that the G-Series turbine aero flows 16 percent more than the GTX4088R, and that the Inconel wheel with its 77mm inducer flows up to 43 lbs/min in the largest 1.19 A/R T4 housing. The T4 housing outlet V-band, 117.4mm (4.622in) OD, matches the GTX42, GTX45 and G42.

Features

71mm compressor inducer, 88mm exducer, 65 trim, 0.80 A/R compressor housing
Dual ceramic ball bearing with steel cages
Lightweight aluminum backplate
Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports; water fittings included

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 71mm and 88mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.80 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 77mm and 70mm
Turbine trim: 84
Bearing system: Dual ceramic ball bearing with steel cages
Maximum turbocharger speed: 125,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G40-1150 standard rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Water fittings

Applications

The G40-1150 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 6.0L
Power range: 500 to 1150 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Standard-rotation turbine kits: Free float in 0.85, 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R, with V-band or divided T4 inlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G40 turbine housing kits for standard rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 125,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
