Is the 1.01 A/R G35 Turbine Housing Kit suited to a V8?

Often, yes. A 4.0L to 5.5L V8 running a single G35-1050 or G35-990 produces enough exhaust to spool a 1.01 A/R G35 Turbine Housing Kit, and the larger volute lowers back pressure where the engine makes its peak power. Smaller engines are usually better with the 0.83 A/R.

How does the T3 version compare with the 1.01 A/R V-band housing?

They share the A/R and the core list; the inlet differs. This housing bolts to a T3 manifold flange, while part 740902-0104 has a V-band inlet for fabricated manifolds built around a clamp joint. Both are free float with a V-band outlet and need an external wastegate.

What power can a G35 make with this housing?

Garrett rates its G35 cores, not the housing: 550 to 900 horsepower for the G35-900, 550 to 990 for the G35-990 and 700 to 1050 for the G35-1050. Those figures come from compressor choke flow and represent potential flywheel horsepower, so the engine, fuel and calibration decide the result.

Do I need to change the housing for a G-Series II upgrade?

No. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the same turbine housings as the first generation, and lists this part for the G35-990 G-Series II as well as the G35-900 and G35-1050. A Gen I owner can buy a G-Series II CHRA and keep this housing in place.

Does this T3 housing suit standard rotation cores?

Yes. Part 740902-0107 is the standard-rotation 1.01 A/R T3 housing, and Garrett lists it for standard G35 cores only. The reverse version for mirrored twin-turbo builds is part 740902-0117, which pairs with this housing on the opposite bank so both turbochargers see the same restriction.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.01 A/R T3 Free Float

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit at 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet is the higher-flow T3 housing for standard-rotation G35 cores, free float with a V-band outlet. Garrett lists part 740902-0107 for the G35-900, the G35-1050 and the G-Series II G35-990. It is the T3 housing for a 4.0L to 5.5L engine, or a smaller engine that revs high, that wants a G35-1050 or G35-990 near the top of its rating. Smaller engines will struggle to spool the 68mm turbine wheel through this volute, and the 0.83 A/R T3 housing serves them better.

Big Engine, T3 Flange

The 1.01 A/R volute gives the G35 turbine wheel more room at high exhaust flow, keeping back pressure down as the engine approaches peak power. With a T3 inlet it bolts to a conventional manifold, and an external wastegate on that manifold controls boost. Garrett makes every G-Series turbine housing from stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F).

Features

1.01 A/R for top-end flow
T3 inlet and V-band outlet
Free-float housing for external wastegate control

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0107
A/R: 1.01
Turbine inlet and outlet: T3 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Standard
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation super cores, rated from 550 to 1050 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines:

Garrett G35-900: 880695-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II: 934123-5001S
Garrett G35-1050: 880695-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The G35 super core is sold separately
Standard rotation; the reverse-rotation 1.01 A/R T3 housing is part 740902-0117
For quicker response on a T3 manifold, Garrett lists the 0.83 A/R housing as part 740902-0106

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
