Will the G35 Turbine Housing Kit fit the T3 manifold from my old turbo?

Yes, if the manifold has a standard T3 turbine flange and room for the larger G35 frame. This G35 Turbine Housing Kit uses a T3 inlet and a V-band outlet, so the downpipe will need a V-band flange. Check clearances and the Garrett flange diagram before ordering.

Is 0.83 A/R a good match for the G35-1050?

It can be on a mid-size engine that needs response, but the G35-1050 is rated from 700 to 1050 horsepower, and reaching the top of that range usually calls for more turbine flow. For a large engine targeting the full rating, the 1.01 A/R T3 housing is the better match.

Does a T3 housing need an external wastegate?

This one does. It is a free-float housing with no wastegate port, so boost has to be controlled by a gate on the exhaust manifold. Most T3 manifolds built for external wastegates already have the flange. Garrett also lists internally gated G35 housings, but only with V-band inlets.

Why pick a T3 inlet rather than a V-band inlet?

Pick T3 when the manifold already has a T3 flange, since this housing then bolts straight on. A V-band inlet suits fabricated manifolds built around a clamp joint and allows easier clocking. Garrett lists the same G35 cores for both, and the T3 version keeps the V-band outlet.

Is there a reverse rotation version?

Yes. Garrett lists the reverse-rotation 0.83 A/R T3 G35 housing as part 740902-0116. This part, 740902-0106, is the standard-rotation version, and each one only suits a core of matching rotation because the volute spirals in a fixed direction. Twin-turbo builds normally use one of each.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.83 A/R T3 Free Float

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit in 0.83 A/R with a T3 inlet mounts a standard-rotation G35 on a T3 manifold, exiting through a V-band outlet with boost controlled by an external wastegate. Garrett lists part 740902-0106 for the G35-900, G35-1050 and G-Series II G35-990. The T3 flange lets an owner moving up from a smaller T3 turbocharger keep the manifold, and 0.83 A/R is the responsive choice for a G35, suiting 3.0L to 4.0L engines. A 5.0L V8 aiming at the G35-1050 rating will want the 1.01 A/R T3 housing instead.

Moving Up to a G35

Many existing manifolds carry a T3 flange and an external wastegate port. This housing lets the larger G35 frame, with its 68mm turbine wheel, bolt to that manifold without fabrication at the inlet. Garrett states that the G35 turbine wheel flows 15 to 20 percent more than GTX with a 74 percent peak efficiency.

Features

T3 inlet for existing T3 manifolds
0.83 A/R, the more responsive of the two G35 T3 sizes
V-band outlet and free-float layout

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0106
A/R: 0.83
Turbine inlet and outlet: T3 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Standard
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation super cores, rated from 550 to 1050 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines:

Garrett G35-900: 880695-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II: 934123-5001S
Garrett G35-1050: 880695-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The G35 super core is sold separately
Standard rotation; the reverse-rotation 0.83 A/R T3 housing is part 740902-0116
Garrett also lists a 1.01 A/R T3 housing for standard G35 cores, part 740902-0107

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
