Can I fit the G35-990 G-Series II Super Core to my G35-900 setup?

Yes. Garrett designed G-Series II to use the first-generation compressor and turbine housings, so the G35-990 G-Series II Super Core goes onto an existing standard-rotation G35 turbine housing and keeps the compressor plumbing in place. The tune has to be revised, because Garrett states that a calibration is required to use the added flow.

What does the G35-990 make?

Garrett rates it at 550 to 990 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines. The figure is potential flywheel horsepower based on the choke flow of the compressor map, so treat it as the capacity of the compressor. Fuel, intercooling, boost and the calibration decide how close a particular engine gets.

Which turbine housings are listed for it?

Nine standard-rotation G35 kits. With an internal wastegate: 0.83 and 1.01 A/R, V-band inlet. Free float with a V-band inlet: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R. Free float with a T3 inlet: 0.83 and 1.01 A/R. Free float with a divided T4 inlet: 1.06 A/R. All have V-band outlets.

Is there an assembled G35-990 turbo?

Yes, Garrett offers it complete in two forms, both standard rotation with a V-band internal wastegate housing: 0.83 A/R and 1.01 A/R, each set up with a 0.5 bar actuator. This super core is for builds that need an external wastegate housing or that will reuse a G35 turbine housing already owned.

What speed limit applies?

Garrett sets the maximum allowable speed of the G35-990 at 140,000 rpm, below the 145,000 rpm of the G35-900, and warns that running over it can cause damage. A speed sensor fitted to the compressor housing lets the tuner watch shaft speed; Garrett sells the sensor kit separately.

Description

Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Super Core, 62mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G35-990 G-Series II Super Core takes the 62mm G35 and gives it second-generation compressor aerodynamics, which Garrett says deliver up to 10 percent more flow than the first generation at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed. Supplied in standard rotation with its compressor housing, it is rated at 550 to 990 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines. It suits a built six-cylinder or V8 aiming just under four figures; for a target under 800 horsepower the extra flow goes unused and the first-generation G35-900 covers it.

Design Changes

G-Series II keeps the one-piece center housing and backplate and the twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft, and Garrett credits the Mar-M turbine wheel with 15 to 20 percent more flow than GTX at 74 percent peak efficiency. The compressor housing shares the first-generation contour, so G35 plumbing carries over.

Features

62mm compressor inducer, 76mm exducer, 65 trim, 0.72 A/R compressor housing
Increased efficiency at high flow rates, per Garrett
Accepts first-generation G35 turbine housings in T3, T4 divided and V-band inlets
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G35-990 G-Series II standard rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G35-990 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 990 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Standard-rotation turbine kits: Free float in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3, 1.06 A/R T4 divided; internal wastegate in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G35 turbine housing kits for standard rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
