Which housing does the G35-900 Super Core in reverse rotation take?

A reverse-rotation G35 kit. Garrett lists six, all free float with a V-band outlet: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet. Standard-rotation G35 housings will not fit, since Garrett states the two rotations are not interchangeable.

What power range is the G35-900 rated for?

Garrett lists the G35-900 Super Core at 550 to 900 horsepower for engines between 2.0L and 5.5L. That is potential flywheel horsepower calculated from compressor choke flow, so it marks what the compressor can supply rather than a guaranteed engine output.

How is the G35-900 different from the G30-900?

Both carry a 62mm compressor and a 900 horsepower ceiling, but the G35-900 rides on the 68mm G35 turbine instead of the 60mm G30 wheel, and Garrett extends its displacement range to 5.5L. On a larger engine that extra turbine flow helps; on a 2.0L to 3.0L engine the G30-900 is usually the closer match.

Do I need an external wastegate?

Yes. Garrett offers no internal wastegate housing for reverse-rotation G35 cores, so boost control has to come from an external wastegate on the manifold ahead of each turbocharger. Size the wastegate for the exhaust flow of the engine and mount it before the turbine inlet.

What speed limit applies to the G35-900?

Garrett publishes 145,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed. Running above it is at the risk of the owner and can result in premature failure. The compressor housing has a machined port for a speed sensor; the Garrett kit is sold separately and gives the tuner real shaft speed data.

Description

Garrett G35-900 Super Core, 62mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G35-900 Super Core in reverse rotation combines the 62mm compressor with the larger 68mm G35 turbine built to rotate the opposite way from the standard core. With a Garrett rating of 550 to 900 horsepower across 2.0L to 5.5L, it fits twin-turbo builds with more displacement than a G30 is sized for. Like every reverse G35, it runs free-float housings only, so plan for external wastegates.

Center Section

Garrett builds the G35 around a one-piece center housing and backplate and a shorter bearing cartridge with twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. Garrett says the aim is fewer potential failure points and a lower chance of oil getting past the seals into the compressor or turbine.

Features

62mm compressor wheel, 65 trim, 0.72 A/R housing, 77 percent maximum efficiency
68mm Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 77 percent
Maximum turbocharger speed: 145,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G35-900 reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G35-900 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G35 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 145,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
