Which engines suit the 1.01 A/R G35-1050 Turbocharger?

Large engines from about 4.0L to 5.5L, or smaller engines that rev very high and make their power late. The G35-1050 Turbocharger with this housing favors flow over early boost. A 2.0L to 3.0L engine built for street use will respond better to the 0.83 A/R version.

What output does Garrett rate the G35-1050 at?

Garrett rates it at 700 to 1,050 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines, based on choke flow from the compressor map and expressed as potential flywheel horsepower. With the 1.01 A/R housing an engine has the exhaust flow to approach the upper figure if fuel and calibration allow.

How does the G35-1050 compare with the G35-990?

Both use the 68mm by 62mm G35 turbine wheel. The G35-1050 is first-generation G-Series with a 68mm compressor inducer; the G-Series II G35-990 uses a 62mm inducer rated 550 to 990 horsepower. The G35-990 suits a wider band of builds, while the G35-1050 targets the highest output.

Can I use an external wastegate with the G35-1050?

Not on this housing, which has an internal wastegate. Garrett sells the G35-1050 super core with free-float G35 turbine kits in V-band, T3 and divided T4 inlets from 0.61 to 1.21 A/R for builders who prefer external wastegate control. The internal wastegate keeps this complete unit simpler to plumb.

Do I need a speed sensor on the G35-1050?

Garrett recommends one. The maximum allowable turbocharger speed is 130,000 rpm, and a compressor this large can be pushed past it on a small engine running high boost. The sensor fits the machined port in the compressor housing, and the kit is sold separately.

Description

Garrett G35-1050 Turbocharger, 1.01 A/R V-Band Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G35-1050 Turbocharger with the 1.01 A/R housing is the high-flow internal wastegate version of Garrett’s 68mm G35, assembled with V-band turbine connections and a 0.5 bar actuator. Garrett rates the G35-1050 at 700 to 1,050 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines. The 1.01 A/R housing lets a 4.0L to 5.5L engine, or a smaller one that revs very high, run toward the top of that rating without choking on exhaust back pressure. It is overkill for most single-turbo street engines.

Features

Larger 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing for high exhaust flow
V-band turbine inlet and outlet
68mm compressor with a 78 percent maximum compressor efficiency, by Garrett figures
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

What’s Included

G35-1050 turbocharger with 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G35-1050 Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 700 to 1,050 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

A 0.83 A/R version is available for quicker spool
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
Garrett offers G35 free-float housings in T4 divided, T3 and V-band inlets for external wastegate builds

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
