When does the 1.01 A/R G30 Turbine Housing Kit make sense?

When the engine is 3.0L or larger, or revs high, and the goal is power near the top of a G30-825 or G30-900 rating. The 1.01 A/R G30 Turbine Housing Kit lowers back pressure at high flow. On a small engine aiming for street response, the 0.83 A/R spools noticeably sooner.

Will a 1.01 A/R housing make my G30 laggy?

Boost will arrive later than with a 0.83 or 0.61 A/R on the same engine, because the larger volute speeds the turbine more gently at low exhaust flow. On an engine big enough for the housing the difference is modest, while on a small engine it can be significant.

How is the wastegate handled?

Externally. This free-float housing has no wastegate port, so a gate on the exhaust manifold controls boost. If you would rather keep the wastegate on the turbocharger, Garrett makes an internally gated 1.01 A/R V-band G30 housing as part 740902-0095.

Do the V-band flanges match GTX turbochargers?

Garrett states that the G30 V-band turbine inlet is 3 inch, or 76.2mm, and the outlet is 3.5 inch, or 90.16mm, the same sizes used on GTX turbochargers. A manifold and downpipe built for a GTX of that frame size should therefore mate up, but check the flange diagram first.

Is the housing standard rotation?

Yes. Part 740902-0088 is listed by Garrett for standard-rotation G30 cores only. Reverse-rotation G30 cores need their own housing, and the reverse 1.01 A/R V-band version is part 740902-0098, normally paired with this one on a mirrored twin-turbo engine with two G30 cores.

Description

Garrett G30 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.01 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s G30 Turbine Housing Kit at 1.01 A/R V-band is the top-end housing for standard-rotation G30 cores, free float with a 3 inch V-band inlet and 3.5 inch outlet. Garrett lists part 740902-0088 for the G30-660, G30-770 and G30-900 and the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825. Its home is a 3.0L to 3.5L engine, or a smaller engine built to rev, running a G30-825 or G30-900 toward the top of its rating, where lower back pressure pays off. On a G30-660 with a 2.0L, the delay in boost outweighs the gain, and the 0.83 A/R is the better buy.

Reducing Back Pressure

Back pressure between the engine and the turbine rises as exhaust flow climbs. A 1.01 A/R volute feeds the 60mm G30 turbine wheel through a larger passage, which keeps that pressure lower at high load and rpm and helps an engine make its power on the top end. Garrett casts the housing in stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F).

1.01 A/R for top-end flow on larger G30 builds
V-band inlet and outlet, 3 in and 3.5 in
Free-float housing, clockable on the center housing V-band

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
