What housings fit the G30-900 Super Core?

Garrett lists standard-rotation G30 free-float kits in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet, and 1.06 A/R with a divided T4 inlet. Garrett also builds assembled G30-900 turbochargers with 0.83 and 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housings.

How much horsepower is the G30-900 Super Core rated for?

The G30-900 Super Core is rated by Garrett at 550 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines, the highest rating of any first-generation G30. The figure comes from compressor choke flow and is presented as potential flywheel horsepower, so the result on the dyno depends on the build and its calibration.

What oil supply does it need?

Garrett includes a -4AN oil restrictor fitting with a 1mm orifice and states that it supplies the recommended 40 psi of oil pressure to the turbocharger. Water fittings are included too, two -6AN fittings and two plugs, so the water jacket in the center housing can be plumbed into the cooling system.

Is the G30-900 too big for a 2.0L?

On most 2.0L engines it is a high-output choice rather than a street one. Garrett rates it from 550 horsepower upward, and a 62mm compressor needs plenty of exhaust energy to reach its efficient range. A 2.0L focused on response is better matched to a G30-660 or a G25, while a built 3.0L uses the G30-900 well.

What is the maximum speed?

Garrett lists 145,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed for the G30-900. Running above that is at the risk of the owner and may lead to premature failure. Fit the Garrett speed sensor kit, sold separately, to the machined port in the compressor housing to keep track of shaft speed.

Description

Garrett G30-900 Super Core, 62mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G30-900 Super Core is the largest compressor in the first-generation G30 lineup, a 62mm wheel on the 60mm G30 turbine, supplied in standard rotation without a turbine housing. Its Garrett rating of 550 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L is serious output for a compact frame, best suited to a built engine with the fuel and cooling to match. Below about 600 horsepower the smaller G30 compressors make more sense, and an engine over 3.5L will be happier on the G35-900, which carries the same compressor.

Turbine Wheel

The Mar-M turbine wheel is rated to 1050C (1922F), and Garrett states that its new aerodynamics flow 15 to 20 percent more than GTX with a peak efficiency of 74 percent. A V-band joint between the center housing and turbine housing lets a non-wastegated housing sit at any angle through 360 degrees.

Features

62mm compressor wheel, 65 trim, 0.72 A/R compressor housing, 77 percent maximum efficiency
One-piece center housing and backplate with twin piston rings
Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports
Supplied with a -4AN oil restrictor fitting with a 1mm orifice and water fittings

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 77 percent
Maximum turbocharger speed: 145,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G30-900 standard rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-900 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 550 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Standard-rotation turbine kits: Free float in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3, 1.06 A/R T4 divided; internal wastegate in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits for standard rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 145,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
