Does the G30-825 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation work with internal wastegate housings?

No. Garrett lists only free-float housings for reverse-rotation G30 cores: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet. Each needs an external wastegate, so the exhaust manifold has to provide a wastegate port.

How much power is it rated for?

Garrett rates the G30-825 G-Series II Super Core at 475 to 825 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. The number is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, and Garrett notes that a calibration is required to put the additional compressor flow to use.

Which reverse G30 core should I pick, the G30-825 or the G30-900?

Pick by target. The G30-825 uses a 58mm compressor with a 140,000 rpm limit; the first-generation G30-900 uses a 62mm compressor rated to 900 horsepower with a 145,000 rpm limit. When the target sits comfortably inside 825 horsepower, the smaller second-generation wheel is the better fit; beyond that, the G30-900 has more compressor.

What is the CHRA option?

Garrett also sells the reverse-rotation G30-825 as a CHRA, part 934120-5002S, without the compressor housing. Because G-Series II shares the first-generation compressor contour, an owner with a reverse G30 compressor cover already on the engine can buy the CHRA; a new installation needs this super core.

What speed should I keep it under?

Garrett lists a maximum allowable speed of 140,000 rpm. Exceeding it is at the risk of the owner and can cause damage and premature failure. The compressor housing accepts a Garrett speed sensor, sold separately, which reports shaft speed so the tuner can hold boost below that ceiling.

Description

Garrett G30-825 G-Series II Super Core, 58mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-825 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation is the 58mm second-generation G30 for mirrored installs, pairing the new compressor with the 60mm Mar-M turbine in a reversed center section. Garrett gives it 475 to 825 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. It is meant for twin-turbo builds with external wastegates that need each turbocharger to flow hard, and it is the wrong part for any engine using one turbocharger on a conventional manifold.

Second-Generation Compressor

Garrett credits the new compressor aero with up to 10 percent more flow than the first generation at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed, along with better efficiency at high flow rates. The compressor housing keeps the first-generation contour, so existing reverse G30 inlet and outlet piping carries over.

Features

58mm G-Series II compressor wheel on a reverse-rotation center housing
Mar-M super alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
One-piece center housing and backplate with twin piston rings
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5855
Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G30-825 G-Series II reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-825 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 475 to 825 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
