Is the reverse G30-825 G-Series II CHRA for twin turbo engines?

Yes. Reverse rotation exists so that two turbochargers can be mounted as mirror images, one on each bank, with symmetrical intake and exhaust plumbing. This reverse G30-825 G-Series II CHRA is meant to run alongside a standard G30-825. A single-turbo engine gains nothing from reverse rotation and should use the standard core.

What reverse housings can I use?

Garrett lists six reverse-rotation G30 turbine kits that suit it: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with V-band inlets, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with T3 inlets. None has an internal wastegate, so boost control on a reverse G30 is always by external wastegate.

What does the 825 rating mean for a pair?

Garrett rates each G30-825 at 475 to 825 horsepower, calculated from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower. Two units split the airflow of one engine, so a twin setup has a high combined ceiling, but injectors, fuel pressure, intercooling and calibration set what the engine actually makes.

How fast can this turbocharger spin?

Garrett sets the maximum allowable speed at 140,000 rpm and states that running above it is at the risk of the owner and can cause damage and premature failure. With two turbochargers on one engine, a speed sensor on each compressor housing gives the tuner a clear check that both shafts stay under the limit.

Will a reverse G30-825 fit my old reverse G30 housings?

Yes. G-Series II was designed around the Gen I compressor and turbine housings, and Garrett offers reverse rotation across its G-Series II supercore, CHRA and turbocharger lines. A reverse first-generation G30 setup can take this core, followed by a calibration to make use of the higher compressor flow.

Description

Garrett G30-825 G-Series II CHRA, Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-825 G-Series II CHRA in reverse rotation gives twin-turbo builders the largest G30 G-Series II compressor in a counter-rotating core, to run opposite a standard G30-825 on the other bank. Each unit is rated at 475 to 825 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L, so a matched pair is aimed at high-output twin-turbo V6 and V8 engines rather than street builds. The core comes bare, with no housings, and only reverse-rotation G30 housings will fit. Builders who want earlier boost from a twin setup should consider the reverse G30-725 instead of the reverse G30-825 G-Series II CHRA.

Same Core, Opposite Direction

Apart from rotation, the core matches the standard G30-825: a 58mm inducer compressor wheel with G-Series II aerodynamics, a Mar-M turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F), and the one-piece center housing and backplate. Running a reverse unit on one bank lets the intake and exhaust plumbing mirror the other side.

Features

Reverse rotation, made to pair with a standard G30-825 on twin-turbo engines
58mm compressor inducer with G-Series II aerodynamics
Fits Gen I reverse-rotation G30 compressor and turbine housings

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5855
Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse
Matching super core: 934121-5002S

Applications

The G30-825 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 475 to 825 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G30 turbine kits, reverse rotation: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3, all external wastegate

Notes

No housings are included; a reverse-rotation compressor housing and reverse rotation G30 turbine kit are required
Every reverse-rotation G30 turbine kit Garrett lists is an external wastegate design
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
