What turbine housing goes with the G30-770 Super Core in reverse rotation?

One of the six reverse-rotation G30 kits Garrett lists. All are free-float housings with a V-band outlet, offered with a V-band inlet in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R or a T3 inlet in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R. An external wastegate is required with any of them.

How much horsepower is the G30-770 rated for?

Garrett rates the G30-770 Super Core at 475 to 770 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. That is calculated from the compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so fuel, boost, intercooling and the tune decide the result on a given engine.

What is the maximum speed for the G30-770?

Garrett publishes 150,000 rpm, compared with 165,000 rpm for the 54mm G30-660. Running above the limit is at the risk of the owner and can result in damage. A speed sensor in the compressor housing gives a live reading, and Garrett sells the kit separately.

Is reverse rotation right for my engine?

Only if the layout needs a mirrored turbocharger, which is typical of twin-turbo engines built with symmetrical plumbing. For a single turbocharger on a conventional manifold, choose the standard-rotation G30-770, which also opens up internal wastegate and divided T4 housing options that reverse rotation does not have.

What is the difference between the G30-770 and the G-Series II G30-825?

Both use a 58mm compressor inducer on the 60mm G30 turbine. The G30-825 adds second-generation compressor aero, which Garrett says flows up to 10 percent more at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed, lifting the rating to 825 horsepower but with a lower 140,000 rpm speed limit.

Description

Garrett G30-770 Super Core, 58mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-770 Super Core in reverse rotation carries a 58mm compressor wheel, the middle size of the first-generation G30, on a center section that spins the opposite way for mirrored installs. Its Garrett rating of 475 to 770 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines starts higher than the 54mm G30-660. It makes sense when a twin-turbo engine needs each unit to support serious output, and it is too much compressor for a mild build that will never approach 500 horsepower.

Bearing System

Garrett runs the G30 on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge, short enough to allow twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft wheel assembly. With the one-piece center housing and backplate, the aim is fewer failure points and less chance of oil getting past the seals.

Features

58mm compressor wheel, 65 trim, in a 0.72 A/R compressor housing
Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
Machined speed sensor and pressure ports
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 71mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 76 percent
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 150,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G30-770 reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-770 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 475 to 770 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 150,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
