Which housings fit the G30-725 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation?

Garrett lists six reverse-rotation G30 turbine kits, all free float: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet. All use a V-band outlet. Standard-rotation housings are not interchangeable, according to Garrett.

Do I need an external wastegate?

Yes. Because every reverse G30 housing Garrett offers is free float, there is no internal wastegate option for this core, and boost control has to come from an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold. Plan the manifold around that before buying the core.

What power does the G30-725 G-Series II Super Core support?

Garrett lists the G30-725 G-Series II Super Core at 350 to 725 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. Garrett calculates the figure from compressor choke flow, so it is a potential flywheel number, and it requires a calibration written to use the additional flow of the second-generation compressor.

Can I upgrade a reverse G30-660 to this core?

Yes. G-Series II was designed as a direct upgrade path for first-generation owners, using the same compressor and turbine housings. A reverse-rotation G30-660 owner can swap to this super core, or to the reverse G30-725 CHRA if the existing compressor cover is staying, and keep the turbine housing in place.

What is the speed limit?

The maximum allowable speed Garrett publishes for the G30-725 is 160,000 rpm. Going above it is at the risk of the owner and can cause premature failure. Garrett sells speed sensor kits separately, and a sensor in the compressor housing lets the tuner see how close each turbocharger runs to that figure.

Description

Garrett G30-725 G-Series II Super Core, 54mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-725 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation is built for twin-turbo and mirrored G30 installs, carrying the 54mm second-generation compressor on a center section that turns opposite to the standard unit. Garrett rates the G30-725 at 350 to 725 horsepower from 2.0L to 3.5L. Every reverse-rotation G30 turbine housing Garrett lists is free float, so this core goes on an exhaust with an external wastegate; an internally gated single-turbo setup needs the standard version.

What Carries Over

G-Series II keeps the first-generation G30 compressor and turbine housing contours, so an existing reverse G30 setup can move to this core without new housings or plumbing. Garrett quotes 74 percent peak efficiency for the Mar-M turbine wheel, rated for exhaust gas up to 1050C (1922F).

Features

Reverse-rotation center section with 54mm G-Series II compressor wheel
Twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft and a one-piece center housing
Compressor housing accepts the Garrett speed sensor
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G30-725 G-Series II reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-725 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 350 to 725 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
