Who needs a reverse rotation G30-725 G-Series II CHRA?

Builders of twin-turbo engines where the two turbochargers are mirror images of each other. Pairing this reverse G30-725 G-Series II CHRA with a standard unit keeps both compressor discharges and turbine inlets symmetrical across the engine. Single-turbo engines do not need it and should use the standard rotation part.

Which turbine housings fit this reverse core?

Garrett lists six reverse-rotation G30 kits: V-band inlet housings in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R and T3 inlet housings in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R. Every one is an external wastegate design, so each turbocharger needs its own external wastegate or a shared arrangement on the manifold.

How much power does each unit support?

Garrett rates each G30-725 at 350 to 725 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 3.5L, a figure calculated from compressor choke flow that represents potential flywheel horsepower. On a twin setup the two compressors share the engine airflow, and fuel, boost and the calibration decide the result.

Is this the same core as the standard version, just reversed?

The wheel sizes are the same: a 54mm compressor inducer, 67mm exducer and a 60mm by 55mm turbine. The difference is direction of rotation, which changes the wheel blades and the housings that fit. Standard and reverse cores are not interchangeable in the same housings.

Can I fit the reverse G30-725 G-Series II CHRA into Gen I housings?

Yes, provided they are reverse-rotation housings. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the Gen I compressor and turbine housings and offers reverse rotation in the supercore, CHRA and turbocharger lines, so an existing reverse G30 can take this core. A calibration is then needed to use the extra flow.

Description

Garrett G30-725 G-Series II CHRA, Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-725 G-Series II CHRA in reverse rotation is the counter-rotating center section for twin-turbo engines that mount two G30 turbochargers as mirror images. Each unit carries the 54mm compressor and 60mm turbine of the G30-725 and is rated by Garrett at 350 to 725 horsepower, sized for 2.0L to 3.5L. On a twin-turbo V6 or V8 that puts a pair well beyond 1,000 horsepower of potential, with the earlier boost of the smaller G30 compressor. Only reverse-rotation housings fit it, and builders with a single turbocharger should take the standard version.

Built for Mirrored Pairs

The core spins opposite to the standard G30-725, so the compressor outlet and turbine inlet face the other way and the two banks can share symmetrical plumbing. It keeps every G-Series II change, including the one-piece center housing and backplate, twin piston rings at both ends of the shaft and a Mar-M turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F).

Features

Reverse rotation for the opposite bank of a twin-turbo engine
Fits Gen I reverse-rotation G30 housings for a core-only upgrade
Up to 10 percent more compressor flow than Gen I at peak pressure ratio

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse
Matching super core: 934121-5001S

Applications

The G30-725 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 350 to 725 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G30 turbine kits, reverse rotation: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3, all external wastegate

Notes

Housings are not included and must be reverse-rotation parts; the reverse rotation G30-725 super core includes its compressor housing
Garrett lists no internal wastegate or divided T4 housing in reverse rotation for the G30, so boost control is by external wastegate
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
