Which engines suit the 0.92 A/R reverse G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing?

Twin-turbo engines where each G25 has to flow a lot of exhaust at high rpm, such as a larger V6 or V8 aimed at the upper part of the G25 power range. This G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing gives up some low-speed boost in return for lower back pressure near the redline.

Can I use this housing on a single turbo build?

Only if that build calls for a reverse-rotation core. Garrett offers single reverse rotation turbochargers for installations with packaging restrictions, and this housing suits one of those. For a typical single-turbo engine with room for a standard unit, the standard 0.92 A/R internal wastegate housing, part 740902-0077, is the correct part.

What happens if I mix 0.92 and 0.72 A/R housings on a twin setup?

The two turbochargers would see different exhaust restriction, so one bank would build boost sooner than the other and the pair would be harder to balance and calibrate. Running the 0.92 A/R reverse housing alongside the standard 0.92 A/R housing, part 740902-0077, keeps both sides matched.

Does it fit the G-Series II reverse rotation cores?

Yes. Garrett lists it for the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700 reverse-rotation super cores, part numbers 934114-5001S and 934114-5002S, and for the first-generation reverse G25-550 and G25-660. G-Series II kept the Gen I turbine housings, so the housing stays in service through a core upgrade.

What material is the housing?

Stainless steel. Garrett makes every G-Series turbine housing from it and rates the material to 1050 degrees Celsius, the same limit it gives the Mar-M turbine wheel. That headroom matters on twin-turbo engines, where each housing sits close to the head and sees sustained heat under load.

Description

Garrett G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing, 0.92 A/R V-Band Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing in 0.92 A/R reverse rotation is the high-flow, internally gated housing for reverse G25 cores, with V-band flanges at both ends and a stainless casting. Garrett lists part 740902-0079 for the reverse-rotation G25-550 and G25-660 and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700. On a twin-turbo engine above 3.0L in total, where each turbocharger feeds half the cylinders at high rpm, the larger A/R keeps exhaust back pressure down. A small single-turbo engine has no use for it; reverse rotation and the slower spool of a 0.92 A/R both work against that build.

Flow for the Top End

The 0.92 A/R is the largest housing Garrett offers on a reverse G25, and it routes exhaust to the 54mm turbine wheel with less restriction than the 0.72 A/R. That costs some response low in the rev range in exchange for easier breathing near peak power. The wastegate port is cast into the housing, made as large as Garrett could fit to fight boost creep.

Features

0.92 A/R for lower back pressure at high rpm
Reverse-rotation volute for a mirrored G25 pair
Internal wastegate port in the stainless casting, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0079

Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Wastegate: Internal
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G25-550 Reverse Rotation: 871388-5001S
Garrett G25-585 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934114-5001S
Garrett G25-660 Reverse Rotation: 871388-5002S

Notes

Garrett does not publish the contents of this turbine kit or whether an actuator is supplied; contact us to confirm before ordering
A standard-rotation G25 core needs the standard 0.92 A/R internal wastegate housing, part 740902-0077
The turbocharger core is sold separately; see the G25 range
For quicker spool on a reverse core, Garrett lists the 0.72 A/R version as part 740902-0078

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
