Which cores fit the G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing in 0.72 A/R?

Garrett lists four standard-rotation cores for it: the G25-550 and G25-660, and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700. All four use the G25 turbine wheel with a 54mm inducer and 49mm exducer, so one housing covers the family, and an owner who later moves to a G-Series II core keeps it.

Do I still need an external wastegate?

No. This housing has its own wastegate port, so boost is controlled at the turbine housing and the exhaust manifold does not need a separate gate. Garrett made the port as large as the design allows to keep boost creep down, which helps most on engines that run modest boost targets.

How does the 0.72 A/R compare with the 0.49 and 0.92 options?

It sits between them. The 0.49 A/R T25 housing builds boost soonest on small engines but runs out of flow first, while the 0.92 A/R breathes better at high rpm on larger engines at the cost of later spool. The 0.72 G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing is the usual starting point when neither extreme fits.

What comes with this housing?

Garrett does not list the contents of its turbine kits on the product pages. Its assembled G25 turbochargers are calibrated with a 0.5 bar actuator, but that statement covers the complete turbo part numbers only. Contact Bulletproof Automotive before ordering and we will confirm with Garrett exactly what ships in the box.

Can I fit this housing to a reverse rotation G25?

No. This is the standard-rotation housing and Garrett lists it only for standard-rotation cores. A reverse-rotation G25 core takes the matching 0.72 A/R V-band internal wastegate housing, part 740902-0078, which is normally chosen for mirrored twin-turbo pairs or for engine bays with tight packaging.

Description

Garrett G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing, 0.72 A/R V-Band

Garrett’s G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing in 0.72 A/R is the internally gated exhaust housing for standard-rotation G25 cores, cast in stainless steel with a V-band inlet and a V-band outlet. Garrett lists part 740902-0076 for the G25-550, G25-660 and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700, and the same A/R and flange layout appears on its assembled 0.72 A/R G25 turbochargers. It suits a 2.0L to 2.5L build that wants boost control inside the housing and an even split between response and top-end flow. A manifold that already carries an external wastegate is better served by a free-float housing.

Wastegate Design

Garrett describes its internally wastegated G-Series housings as compact and efficient, with the largest wastegate port it could design in, to cut boost creep and steady boost control. The casting is stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F), and since G-Series II kept the first-generation housings, this one serves both generations of G25 core.

Features

Internal wastegate port, so the exhaust manifold needs no separate gate
V-band inlet and V-band outlet for clamp joints at the manifold and downpipe
0.72 A/R, the middle of the three internal wastegate sizes Garrett offers for the G25

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
