When should I choose the 0.92 A/R G25 Turbine Housing Kit over the 0.72?

Choose the 0.92 A/R when the engine is large for the G25 range or makes its power at high rpm. This G25 Turbine Housing Kit lowers exhaust back pressure near peak power, while the 0.72 A/R brings boost in sooner. Smaller engines used mostly in the mid-range usually suit the 0.72 better.

Will an external wastegate be required?

Yes. A free-float housing has no wastegate port, so all exhaust gas passes through the turbine wheel and boost must be controlled by an external wastegate mounted on the exhaust manifold. Without one the turbocharger has no way to limit boost. Garrett sells GVW external wastegates for this purpose.

Can the housing be rotated to line up with my downpipe?

Yes. Garrett states that the V-band connection between the G-Series center housing and its non-wastegated turbine housings allows 360 degree orientation. Because this is a free-float housing, it can be clocked to whatever angle suits the manifold flange and the downpipe route before the clamp is tightened.

How does this differ from the 0.92 A/R internal wastegate G25 housing?

Both share the 0.92 A/R and V-band flanges, but this free-float housing has no wastegate port, so it needs an external gate on the manifold. The internal wastegate version, part 740902-0077, carries its own port. Choose this one if the manifold already has an external wastegate flange.

Is this the standard rotation G25 housing?

Yes. Part 740902-0068 is the standard-rotation 0.92 A/R free-float housing, and Garrett lists it for standard-rotation cores only. Reverse rotation G25 cores use their own free-float housings, which Garrett lists under separate part numbers in 0.72 and 0.92 A/R for mirrored twin-turbo builds.

Description

Garrett G25 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.92 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s G25 Turbine Housing Kit in 0.92 A/R is the larger of the two free-float housings for standard-rotation G25 cores, a stainless steel casting with V-band inlet and outlet and no wastegate of its own. Garrett lists part 740902-0068 for the G25-550, G25-660 and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700. It is meant for an engine with an external wastegate on the manifold that wants its G25 to breathe freely at high rpm, typically a 2.5L to 3.0L build or a smaller engine revved hard. If quick spool matters more than peak flow, the 0.72 A/R free-float housing, part 740902-0069, is the better choice.

Free Float Layout

With no internal wastegate, all exhaust flow goes through the turbine, and boost is held by an external gate ahead of the turbocharger. Garrett states that the V-band joint between the center housing and its non-wastegated turbine housings allows 360 degree orientation, so the inlet and outlet can be clocked to suit the manifold and downpipe.

Features

Free-float housing for external wastegate control
Clockable through 360 degrees on the center housing V-band joint, per Garrett
0.92 A/R, the high-flow choice of the two G25 free-float sizes
Stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0068
A/R: 0.92
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Standard
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G25 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation super cores:

Garrett G25-550: 858161-5002S
Garrett G25-585 G-Series II: 934075-5001S
Garrett G25-660: 858161-5003S
Garrett G25-700 G-Series II: 934075-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G25 super core is sold separately
Garrett lists the reverse-rotation free-float G25 housings separately; this part is standard rotation

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
