Is the G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger ready to install?

Yes. This part number is a complete turbocharger, assembled and calibrated by Garrett with a 0.5 bar actuator, and it ships with a gasket kit, an oil restrictor and water fittings. The owner still needs a V-band manifold flange, oil and water lines, and a calibration for the new turbocharger.

How much power can the G25-700 make?

Garrett rates the G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger at 350 to 700 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. The rating comes from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so fuel, boost, intercooling and the calibration decide where an engine lands.

What is the difference between G-Series and G-Series II?

G-Series II has new compressor aerodynamics with up to 10 percent more flow at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed, a one-piece center housing with an integrated backplate, twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft and a new Mar-M turbine wheel. The housings are shared with the first generation.

Which turbine housing A/R should I choose for the G25-700?

The 0.49 A/R T25 housing favors spool on smaller engines, the 0.92 A/R favors top-end flow on larger or higher-revving engines, and this 0.72 A/R sits between them. Match the A/R to displacement and the rpm range the car uses, and check the choice against the Garrett flow maps.

Can I upgrade my first-generation G25 to G-Series II?

Yes. Because G-Series II uses the first-generation compressor and turbine housings, a G25 owner can fit a G-Series II CHRA and keep the existing housings. This complete turbocharger suits a new build, or a car moving up from a different frame size.

Description

Garrett G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger, 0.72 A/R V-Band Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger is the largest compressor in Garrett’s G25 frame, a 54mm inducer wheel matched to a Mar-M superalloy turbine and a 0.72 A/R stainless steel housing with V-band inlet and outlet and an internal wastegate. Garrett assembles and calibrates it with a 0.5 bar actuator, so it goes onto the manifold as one part. Rated at 350 to 700 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L, it suits a built four-cylinder or a small six that needs top-end flow without the lag of a G30 frame. For a bolt-on car it is oversized; for a fuel-system build chasing 600 horsepower it is the G25 to choose.

Development and Testing

G-Series II gives up to 10 percent more compressor flow than the first-generation G25 at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed. The center housing is one piece with an integrated backplate, and a shorter bearing cartridge leaves room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. The new turbine wheel is Mar-M superalloy rated to 1050C (1922F), with a quoted 74 percent peak efficiency.

Features

Assembled and calibrated by Garrett, ready to bolt to a V-band manifold flange
Internal wastegate with a larger port in the G-Series II housing for steadier boost control
Uses first-generation G25 housing contours, so piping and mounts carry over

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.72 A/R stainless steel, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II turbocharger with internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings
Gasket kit

Applications

The G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Garrett also builds the G25-700 with 0.49 or 0.92 A/R housings, and as a super core or CHRA
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
