Is the G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger with a T25 inlet a good street choice?

Yes, for an engine on a T25 manifold that wants a large compressor without slow spool. The 0.49 A/R housing keeps exhaust energy high at low rpm. The cost is top-end flow, so the G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger in this form suits response-led builds rather than outright power.

How much power can it make with the small housing?

Garrett rates the G25-700 at 350 to 700 horsepower from compressor choke flow, which represents potential flywheel horsepower. With the 0.49 A/R turbine housing the exhaust side becomes the limit first, so most engines will land below the upper end of that band.

What is new inside the G-Series II center section?

Garrett moved to a one-piece center housing and backplate and shortened the bearing cartridge, which leaves room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft and wheel assembly. The new turbine wheel flows 15 to 20 percent more than GTX by Garrett figures, with 74 percent peak efficiency.

Should I pick the G25-700 or the G25-585?

Pick the G25-585 when response matters and the target sits inside its 300 to 585 horsepower rating, and the G25-700 when the target sits higher. Both share the G25 turbine wheel and housings, but the G25-700 has a 54mm compressor inducer against 48mm, which moves more air at the top end.

What is the speed limit for this turbo?

Garrett lists 160,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed for the G25-700, lower than the smaller-wheel G25 models. Use above that speed is at the risk of the owner. A Garrett speed sensor fitted to the compressor housing lets the tuner log shaft speed and set boost accordingly.

Description

Garrett G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger, 0.49 A/R T25 Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger with the 0.49 A/R T25 housing puts the largest G25 compressor, a 54mm wheel, on the smallest turbine housing in the frame. That mix gives a T25-flanged engine much more compressor than a typical small-frame turbo while keeping boost response sharp, with a V-band outlet and an internal wastegate on a 0.5 bar actuator. Garrett rates the G25-700 at 350 to 700 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines, but the 0.49 A/R housing will cap exhaust flow well before that top figure. It is a strong choice for a responsive 2.0L street build on a T25 manifold; a build aimed at 650 horsepower or more should step up to a larger housing.

Features

54mm G-Series II compressor wheel matched to a T25 inlet turbine housing
Internal wastegate assembled and calibrated by Garrett with a 0.5 bar actuator
One-piece center housing and backplate, which Garrett says improves durability and safety

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.49 A/R, T25 inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II turbocharger with 0.49 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Turbine inlet: T25 manifold flange

Notes

Garrett also builds the G25-700 with 0.72 or 0.92 A/R V-band housings and in reverse rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
The 0.49 A/R housing limits high-rpm flow, so peak power will fall short of the top of the rating

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
