What turbine housing do I need for the G25-700 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation?

A reverse-rotation G25 kit. Garrett lists 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band housings with an internal wastegate and the same two sizes as free-float housings for an external wastegate. Garrett states that reverse and standard rotation housings are not interchangeable, so a standard G25 housing cannot be used.

Is a CHRA available instead of a super core?

Yes. Garrett lists a reverse-rotation G25-700 CHRA, part 934113-5002S, which omits the compressor housing. Because G-Series II shares the first-generation compressor contour, an owner with an existing reverse G25 compressor cover can buy the CHRA; a new build without housings is better served by this super core.

Does reverse rotation change the power rating?

No. Garrett lists the G25-700 G-Series II Super Core at 350 to 700 horsepower for engines from 1.4L to 3.0L in either rotation. Garrett derives that from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower, and states that a calibration is required to use the extra flow of the second-generation compressor.

Who should buy a reverse rotation core?

Builders of twin-turbo engines and mirrored installs, where one turbocharger has to spin opposite to its partner so both sides can share a symmetrical layout. If the engine runs one turbocharger on a conventional manifold, there is no benefit, and the standard-rotation core gives access to the 0.49 A/R T25 housing as well.

What speed limit applies?

Garrett publishes a maximum allowable speed of 160,000 rpm for the G25-700. Running above that is at the risk of the owner and can lead to premature failure. A Garrett speed sensor, sold separately, installs in the compressor housing and reports shaft speed to a gauge or data logger.

Description

Garrett G25-700 G-Series II Super Core, 54mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G25-700 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation puts the 54mm second-generation compressor on a mirrored center section, the highest-flowing reverse-rotation core Garrett offers in the G25 frame. Garrett rates the G25-700 at 350 to 700 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines. It is for twin-turbo and mirrored layouts that need a reversed turbocharger with real flow; on a single-turbo engine the standard-rotation version, or the 48mm G25-585, is the more sensible buy.

Durability Changes

G-Series II keeps the one-piece center housing and backplate and the twin piston rings on each side of the shaft, both intended to cut failure points and oil seepage past the seals. The Mar-M super alloy turbine wheel is rated for exhaust temperatures to 1050C (1922F).

Features

54mm G-Series II compressor wheel on a reverse-rotation center housing
Garrett frame reference 5449: 54mm compressor inducer, 49mm turbine exducer
Accepts reverse-rotation first-generation G25 turbine housings
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-700 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band, each with internal wastegate or free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G25 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
