What is a G25-585 Reverse Rotation Turbo for?

It is for twin-turbo engines where the two turbochargers sit in mirror image. The G25-585 Reverse Rotation Turbo spins the opposite way to a standard G25-585 and has mirrored housings, so the inlets and outlets point the right way on the second side of the engine. Single-turbo engines need the standard rotation model.

Can I pair it with a standard rotation G25-585?

Yes. That is the intended use. Garrett offers the standard rotation G25-585 with the same 0.72 A/R V-band internal wastegate housing, so a builder can run one of each with matched compressor and turbine sizes, matched actuators and the same flow on both banks.

How much power can each turbo support?

Garrett rates each G25-585 at 300 to 585 horsepower, calculated from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower. The rating is per turbocharger, and real output from a twin installation depends on displacement, fuel, boost and how the engine is calibrated.

Is the actuator preset?

Yes. Garrett assembles this reverse rotation turbocharger and calibrates the internal wastegate with a 0.5 bar actuator before shipping. Higher boost targets are normally set through the boost controller and the engine calibration rather than by changing the actuator on the turbocharger.

Should I choose the 0.72 or 0.92 A/R reverse housing?

Garrett makes both. The 0.72 A/R on this unit brings boost on sooner and suits most engines in the lower and middle part of the rating. The 0.92 A/R flows more at high rpm and is the better match for larger engines or builds where peak power matters most.

Description

Garrett G25-585 Reverse Rotation Turbocharger, G-Series II 0.72 A/R V-Band

Garrett’s G25-585 Reverse Rotation Turbo is the opposite-handed G-Series II G25, built so a twin-turbo engine can run one standard and one reverse rotation unit in mirror image. This part number has the 0.72 A/R turbine housing with V-band inlet and outlet and an internal wastegate, assembled and calibrated by Garrett with a 0.5 bar actuator. Each turbocharger carries Garrett’s 300 to 585 horsepower rating on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. A buyer with a single-turbo engine should skip it, since the standard rotation G25-585 offers the same performance with wider housing choice.

Features

Reverse rotation compressor and turbine, mirrored against the standard G25-585
0.72 A/R internal wastegate turbine housing with V-band inlet and outlet
48mm G-Series II compressor wheel with up to 10 percent more flow than the first generation at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 4849
Compressor inducer and exducer: 48mm and 60mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.72 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 185,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G25-585 G-Series II reverse rotation turbocharger with 0.72 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-585 Reverse Rotation Turbo is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 300 to 585 horsepower per turbocharger (Garrett rating)
Layout: Mirrored twin-turbo engines

Notes

Pair it with a standard rotation G25-585 for a mirrored twin-turbo layout
A 0.92 A/R reverse rotation version is also available
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 185,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
