Which turbine housings fit the G25-585 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation?

Garrett lists four reverse-rotation G25 kits for it: 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band housings with an internal wastegate, and 0.72 and 0.92 A/R free-float V-band housings for an external wastegate. Standard-rotation G25 housings will not work, because Garrett states the two rotations are not interchangeable.

Is there a complete reverse rotation G25-585 turbo?

Yes. Garrett builds the G25-585 as a complete reverse-rotation turbocharger with an internal wastegate housing in 0.72 or 0.92 A/R, assembled and calibrated with a 0.5 bar actuator. The super core makes more sense when the builder needs a free-float housing or already owns reverse G25 housings.

How much power is the G25-585 G-Series II Super Core rated for?

Garrett rates the G25-585 G-Series II Super Core at 300 to 585 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines. That rating comes from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, and Garrett notes that a calibration is required to make use of the extra flow over the first generation.

Why is reverse rotation used?

It mirrors the turbocharger so the compressor and turbine face the opposite direction. Twin-turbo engines often use one standard and one reverse unit so the intake and exhaust plumbing on each side can be symmetrical. A single-turbo engine rarely needs it, and the standard-rotation core has more housing options, including the 0.49 A/R T25.

Does this core need a speed sensor?

Garrett does not require one, but it publishes a limit of 185,000 rpm and warns that exceeding it is at the risk of the owner. A sensor installed in the compressor housing reports shaft speed, and on a mirrored pair it helps confirm both turbochargers stay inside the limit. The kit is sold separately.

Description

Garrett G25-585 G-Series II Super Core, 48mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G25-585 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation gives mirrored and twin-turbo builds the same 48mm second-generation compressor as the standard core, on a center section that spins the other way. Garrett rates it at 300 to 585 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. It pairs only with reverse-rotation G25 turbine housings, in 0.72 or 0.92 A/R, so it is the right part when the layout demands a reversed unit and the wrong one for a conventional single-turbo engine.

Second-Generation Aero

The compressor wheel is new for G-Series II and, by Garrett’s figures, flows up to 10 percent more than the first-generation 48mm wheel at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed. On the turbine side, the wheel is Mar-M alloy rated to 1050C (1922F), and the housings share the first-generation G25 contour.

Features

Reverse-rotation center section with 48mm G-Series II compressor wheel
Shares first-generation G25 compressor and turbine housing contours
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 4849
Compressor inducer and exducer: 48mm and 60mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 185,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G25-585 G-Series II reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-585 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 300 to 585 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band, each with internal wastegate or free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G25 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 185,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
