How much horsepower is the GXR57-94 Super Core rated for?

Garrett rates the GXR57-94 Super Core at 1400 to 2700 horsepower on engines from 3.0L to 12.0L. The figure comes from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. One line of the Garrett page text quotes 2600, but the reference table and the headline range both give 2700.

GXR57-94 or GXR55-94: which should I buy?

Decide on the exhaust side. Both use the 94.9mm by 149mm compressor and share the rating. The GXR57-94 has a larger 118mm by 112mm turbine on three G57 V-band housings, and the GXR55-94 has a 112mm by 106mm turbine with G55 housings that include T6 inlets.

How does it compare with the G55-2250?

Garrett quotes 24 percent more compressor flow against the G55-2250, along with improved pressure ratio capability and higher efficiency at high flow. Unlike that G55 core, this one uses the G57 turbine and its housings, so plan the turbine side as new parts.

Which turbine housings does Garrett list?

Three G57 kits in 1.09, 1.25 and 1.41 A/R, each with a V-band inlet and outlet and an external wastegate layout. The 1.09 helps spool on the smaller end of the range, and the 1.41 suits a large engine at high rpm. The housing is sold separately.

What is the speed limit?

Garrett lists 75,000 rpm as the maximum allowable turbocharger speed for the GXR57-94. Operating above it is at the risk of the owner. A speed sensor in the flange-style port, sold separately as the Garrett kit, lets the tuner confirm the shaft stays under that figure at full boost.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR57-94 Super Core, 94.9mm Inducer, 112mm Turbine

Garrett’s GXR57-94 Super Core combines a 94.9mm inducer, 149mm exducer XBoost compressor with the 118mm by 112mm GXR57 turbine, which Garrett codes 9412. Garrett rates it at 1400 to 2700 horsepower on 3.0L to 12.0L engines, the same rating as the GXR55-94, and quotes 24 percent more compressor flow than the G55-2250. Choosing it over the GXR55-94 is about the exhaust side: the bigger turbine and G57 V-band housings suit an engine that needs more turbine flow. A build tied to a T6 manifold should stay on the GXR55-94.

Construction

The GXR57 frame uses a one-piece aluminum center housing and backplate, which Garrett credits with reducing weight, and a flange-style speed sensor port. Garrett describes the design as patented and lists three G57 V-band turbine housings for it.

Features

94.9mm inducer and 149mm exducer XBoost wheel
118mm inducer, 112mm exducer GXR57 turbine
One-piece aluminum center housing and backplate
Flange-style speed sensor port

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 9412
Compressor inducer and exducer: 94.9mm and 149mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 118mm and 112mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 75,000 rpm
Horsepower rating: Up to 2700 (Garrett rating)

Applications

The GXR57-94 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power range: 1400 to 2700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G57 1.09, 1.25 and 1.41 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet, external wastegate

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G57 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 75,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Other cores are listed in the GXR57 range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
