Which classes is the 0.25 inch GXR55-88 Super Core with the 106mm turbine listed for?

Garrett lists this GXR55-88 Super Core, part 934174-5007S, for X275 and for classes with an 88mm compressor inducer rule. Garrett names the 103mm turbine version with the same groove for LDR, so an LDR racer should compare the two against the current rule book.

What turbine housings fit the 106mm wheel?

Garrett lists six G55 kits: 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a V-band inlet, plus 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a T6 inlet. All have a V-band outlet and a free-float layout, so the build needs an external wastegate on the manifold.

How much horsepower will it support?

The Garrett rating is 1000 to 2350 horsepower on 3.0L to 12.0L engines. The rating is worked out from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the number depends on how well the fuel, boost control and calibration use the airflow.

Why choose this over the 0.18 inch version?

Only because the rule book asks for a 0.25 inch map groove. The two cores share the compressor wheel, the 106mm turbine, the 84,000 rpm limit and the housing list. Ordering the wrong groove width can leave the car outside the class rules, so confirm the requirement first.

Do I need a speed sensor?

Garrett recommends one. The maximum allowable shaft speed is 84,000 rpm, and use above that is at the risk of the owner. The fully machined, flange-style port accepts the Garrett sensor, which is a separate purchase, and gives the tuner shaft speed alongside boost data.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR55-88 Super Core, 0.25 Inch Map Groove, 106mm Turbine

Garrett’s GXR55-88 Super Core with a 0.25 inch map groove and the 106mm turbine wheel joins the wider groove to the larger GXR55 turbine option, 112mm by 106mm with a trim of 90. The compressor is the 88.9mm by 133mm XBoost wheel in a 0.88 A/R housing, rated by Garrett at 1000 to 2350 horsepower on 3.0L to 12.0L engines. Garrett lists it for X275 and classes with an 88mm inducer rule. Its advantage over the 103mm version is housing choice, with six G55 kits including T6 inlets; its limit is that Garrett names it for X275 rather than LDR.

Features

0.25 inch map groove compressor housing
112mm by 106mm turbine wheel with a 90 trim
Takes G55 V-band and T6 inlet turbine housings
21 percent more compressor flow than the G55-1950

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 88.9mm and 133mm
Compressor trim and housing A/R: 44 and 0.88
Map groove: 0.25 inch
Turbine inducer and exducer: 112mm and 106mm
Turbine trim: 90
Maximum turbocharger speed: 84,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The GXR55-88 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power range: 1000 to 2350 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G55 1.24 and 1.40 A/R V-band inlet, or 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R T6 inlet, all V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G55 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 84,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Garrett asks buyers to verify class rules before purchasing a core for an inducer-limited class
Other map groove and turbine combinations are listed in the GXR55-88 range

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
