Is the 0.18 inch GXR55-88 Super Core with the 106mm turbine suited to X275?

Yes. Garrett lists this GXR55-88 Super Core, part 934174-5002S, for X275 drag racing and for classes with an 88mm compressor inducer rule. Because the map groove width is regulated in some classes, check that the rule book calls for 0.18 inch before ordering this part.

103mm or 106mm turbine: which should I choose?

Start with the class rules and the manifold. The 106mm wheel has a higher trim, 90 against 86, and fits six G55 housings including T6 inlet versions, while the 103mm wheel uses two dedicated V-band housings. A T6 manifold points to this 106mm version.

Which turbine housings does Garrett list for it?

Six G55 free-float kits: 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a V-band inlet, and 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a T6 inlet. All six end in a V-band outlet. The housing is not included, which leaves the A/R open to suit the displacement and the rpm range of the engine.

What horsepower does Garrett quote?

1000 to 2350 horsepower on engines from 3.0L to 12.0L, with 21 percent more compressor flow than the G55-1950. Garrett derives the rating from compressor choke flow, so it is potential flywheel horsepower. The real figure depends on fuel, boost, intercooling and tuning.

Does it need an external wastegate and speed sensor?

The wastegate is required, since every listed housing is free float with no internal gate. A speed sensor is not required, but Garrett advises one: the core is limited to 84,000 rpm, and running beyond that is at the risk of the owner. Both are sold separately.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR55-88 Super Core, 0.18 Inch Map Groove, 106mm Turbine

Garrett’s GXR55-88 Super Core here pairs the 0.18 inch map groove compressor housing with the larger GXR55 turbine option, a 112mm inducer and 106mm exducer wheel with a trim of 90. Up front is the same 88.9mm by 133mm XBoost compressor in a 0.88 A/R housing, and Garrett’s rating stays at 1000 to 2350 horsepower for 3.0L to 12.0L. What the 106mm wheel changes is the housing choice: Garrett lists six G55 housings for it, including T6 inlet versions, against two for the 103mm wheel. For an X275 car on a T6 manifold with a 0.18 inch groove rule, this is the version to order.

0.18 inch map groove compressor housing
106mm exducer turbine wheel with a 90 trim
Works with six G55 turbine housings in V-band and T6 inlet forms
Lightweight aluminum backplate and fully machined speed sensor port

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 88.9mm and 133mm
Compressor trim and housing A/R: 44 and 0.88
Map groove: 0.18 inch
Turbine inducer and exducer: 112mm and 106mm
Turbine trim: 90
Maximum turbocharger speed: 84,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The GXR55-88 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power range: 1000 to 2350 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G55 1.24 and 1.40 A/R V-band inlet, or 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R T6 inlet, all V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G55 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 84,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Garrett asks buyers to verify class rules before purchasing a core for an inducer-limited class
Other map groove and turbine combinations are listed in the GXR55-88 range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
