How does the GXR45-80 Super Core compare with the GXR45-76 and GXR45-82?

All three share the 109mm exducer, the G45 turbine and the 100,000 rpm limit. The GXR45-80 Super Core has an 80.9mm inducer and tops out at 1750 horsepower in Garrett ratings, against 1650 for the 76.6mm core and 1800 for the 82.9mm core.

What is the horsepower range of the GXR45-80?

Garrett lists 750 to 1750 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 8.0L. Garrett calculates the figure from compressor choke flow, so it stands for potential flywheel horsepower, and the real number depends on the fuel system, boost level, intercooling and the calibration.

Will my G45 turbine housing fit?

Yes. The GXR45-80 takes the eight G45 free-float housings Garrett lists: 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R with a V-band or divided T4 inlet. Garrett states that G-XRace shares turbine housings with the G-Series, so the exhaust side of a G45 build carries over.

What else do I need to install it?

A turbine housing, an external wastegate, oil and water lines, and a calibration for the new airflow. Garrett also recommends a speed sensor because the maximum shaft speed is 100,000 rpm, and the Garrett sensor kit is sold separately from the core.

Is there a compressor map I can check?

Yes. Garrett publishes a compressor map for the GXR45-80 and an overlay comparing it with the G45-1600. Plot the airflow and pressure ratio the engine needs on that map before choosing between this core and its two siblings, and ask the tuner to check the plot.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR45-80 Super Core, 80.9mm Inducer, 109mm Exducer

Garrett’s GXR45-80 Super Core sits between the GXR45-76 and GXR45-82, with an 80.9mm inducer on the same 109mm exducer XBoost wheel and the 89mm by 82mm G45 turbine. Garrett codes it 8082 and rates it at 750 to 1750 horsepower for 2.0L to 8.0L. The extra inducer over the GXR45-76 is worth 100 horsepower at the top of Garrett’s range, and it costs nothing in housing choice, since all three cores take the same G45 kits. For a racer with no inducer limit and an engine that can use 1700 horsepower or more, this is a sensible middle pick; a lighter combination will spool faster on a GXR45-76.

Features

80.9mm inducer and 109mm exducer XBoost compressor
Improved pressure ratio capability for higher boost pressure
Flange-style speed sensor port and aluminum backplate
Takes every G45 V-band and divided T4 turbine housing kit

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 8082
Compressor inducer and exducer: 80.9mm and 109mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.85
Turbine inducer and exducer: 89mm and 82mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 100,000 rpm

Applications

The GXR45-80 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 8.0L
Power range: 750 to 1750 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G45 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R, V-band or divided T4 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G45 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 100,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Garrett publishes a compressor map overlay for this core against the G45-1600

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
