What does the 7682 reference on the GXR45-76 Super Core mean?

It is the frame size code Garrett gives the GXR45-76 Super Core, built from the 76.6mm compressor inducer and the 82mm turbine exducer. Other makers use the same style of code, so it helps when comparing a Garrett core with a competing turbocharger of a similar size.

How much horsepower is the GXR45-76 rated for?

Garrett rates it at 750 to 1650 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 8.0L. The rating is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the figure is a ceiling for the compressor, not a dyno result for any one engine.

Why is the speed limit 100,000 rpm?

That is the maximum Garrett publishes for this core, set below the 109,000 rpm of the 102mm-exducer GXR45 models. A larger compressor wheel reaches higher tip speed at the same shaft rpm. Running above the limit is at the risk of the owner, so a speed sensor is worth fitting.

Which turbine housings can I use?

Garrett lists the eight G45 free-float housings: 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R, each with either a V-band inlet or a divided T4 inlet and a V-band outlet. A G45 owner can keep the current housing when changing to this core.

Is this the right GXR45 for a street-driven car?

Usually not. Garrett starts its range at 750 horsepower, and the 109mm exducer is aimed at high boost. A street car making less than that will spool more slowly than it would on a smaller frame. It makes sense where the power target sits well inside the 750 to 1650 range.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR45-76 Super Core, 76.6mm Inducer, 109mm Exducer

Garrett’s GXR45-76 Super Core moves the GXR45 to a 109mm exducer compressor wheel with a 76.6mm inducer, the 7682 frame in Garrett’s reference, still riding on the 89mm by 82mm G45 turbine. Garrett rates it at 750 to 1650 horsepower on 2.0L to 8.0L engines and sets a 100,000 rpm limit for it, below the 109,000 rpm of the 102mm-exducer GXR45 cores. It suits a builder who wants more flow than the 102mm-exducer cores give the G45 turbine can drive while keeping a mid-frame package. A car whose class caps the inducer below 76.6mm should look at the GXR45-73 instead.

Design

Garrett lists XBoost on this core as patent pending, with improved pressure ratio capability for higher boost and better efficiency at high flow for a cooler charge. The aluminum backplate reduces weight, and a flange-style speed sensor port makes sensor fitting simple. Garrett publishes an overlay of its compressor map against the G45-1500.

Features

76.6mm inducer and 109mm exducer XBoost compressor wheel
Flange-style speed sensor port for shaft speed monitoring
Lightweight aluminum backplate
Fits the full set of G45 turbine housing kits

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 7682
Compressor inducer and exducer: 76.6mm and 109mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.85
Turbine inducer and exducer: 89mm and 82mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 100,000 rpm

Applications

The GXR45-76 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 8.0L
Power range: 750 to 1650 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G45 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R, V-band or divided T4 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G45 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 100,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Larger-inducer versions, the GXR45-80 and GXR45-82, are listed in the GXR45 range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
