What is the Air-to-Liquid Intercooler Core 873213-6005?

It is a Garrett charge air core cooled by liquid rather than by outside air. Turn 14 lists this Air-to-Liquid Intercooler Core at 4.5 by 15.0 by 8.80 inches with a 1250 horsepower rating. Garrett builds its air-to-liquid cores with bar and plate construction for compact, high-output charge cooling.

What else do I need to build a water-to-air system?

The core is only the heat transfer element. A working system also needs tanks with charge air inlets and outlets, a coolant pump, a heat exchanger at the front of the vehicle to shed the heat, a reservoir, hoses and wiring for the pump. Plan the whole circuit before buying the core.

Why choose air-to-liquid over air-to-air?

Packaging and charge pipe length. An air-to-liquid core can sit near the throttle body or inside an intake plenum, keeping the charge air path short, which helps response. An air-to-air core is simpler, with no pump or coolant, but needs room at the front of the vehicle and longer piping to reach it.

Is 1250 horsepower the power I will make?

No. 1250 horsepower is the rating Turn 14 gives this core, a measure of how much charge air it is sized to cool, not an output figure. The power an engine makes depends on its turbocharger, fuel system and calibration. The core rating tells you the build can grow without the core becoming the limit.

Why is this part not on the Garrett website?

Garrett does not show 873213-6005 in its current intercooler table, which lists a related 873213-6002 air-to-liquid core at 980 horsepower. The size and 1250 horsepower rating here come from Turn 14, the Garrett distributor. Contact us before ordering if you need more detail on its layout.

Description

Garrett Air-to-Liquid Intercooler Core, 4.5 x 15.0 x 8.8 in, 1250 HP

Garrett’s Air-to-Liquid Intercooler Core 873213-6005 is a water-cooled charge air core that Turn 14 lists at 4.5 x 15.0 x 8.80 in and rated for 1250 horsepower. Garrett’s current catalog does not show this part number, so the listing keeps to what Turn 14 states and to what Garrett publishes about its air-to-liquid cores in general: bar and plate construction, built to reduce intake temperatures where packaging is compact. A 1250 horsepower rating puts it in big-power territory, suited to a fabricated water-to-air system on a high-output build, and it is far more than a modest street engine needs.

Air-to-Liquid Systems

An air-to-liquid core cools the charge air with coolant rather than outside air, which lets it sit close to the engine with short charge piping. The core is one part of a system: the builder also supplies the tanks, a coolant pump, a front-mounted heat exchanger, a reservoir and the plumbing between them.

Features

Air-to-liquid design, cooled by a coolant circuit rather than by outside air
Bar and plate construction, as Garrett uses across its air-to-liquid cores
The Air-to-Liquid Intercooler Core is listed by Turn 14 at 1250 horsepower

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
