Exhaust flow is directed through Fabspeed’s signature 63.5mm quad-resonated x-pipe, which has been meticulously engineered to smooth out exhaust pulses for a sophisticated and exotic exhaust note, all while maintaining optimal flow efficiency. The resulting tone is ideally suited for cruising around town or embarking on long highway journeys. When the valves are opened, exhaust flow is allowed to exit directly from the engine through 70mm dump tubes, producing an aggressive scream. This unleashes the full power of the Audi V10, accompanied by an intoxicating and menacing array of pops and crackles upon deceleration and downshifting. The system offers an auditory experience that truly needs to be heard and felt to be fully appreciated.

Does the Fabspeed Valvetronic Supersport X-Pipe fit the 2016 to 2018 Audi R8? Yes. This version is built for the first-run Type 4S Audi R8 V10 from 2016 to 2018, which uses the 5.2-liter V10, and it bolts into the factory rear location with no cutting or welding. The 2019 and later facelift R8 uses a different rear exhaust and takes Fabspeed’s separate 2019+ version of this system.
How do the valves work, and will it be too loud for daily driving? The system is valved. With the valves closed, a 63.5mm quad-resonated center X-pipe smooths the exhaust and keeps volume civil for daily driving. Open the valves and gases dump straight out through 70mm tubes for a race-car roar with crackles and pops on the overrun. The optional push-button controller lets you switch on demand.
How much power does it add? With a supporting ECU tune, Fabspeed measured up to 53 wheel horsepower and 47 lb-ft of torque at 5850 rpm on its test car in ambient conditions, so results vary with tune, fuel and climate. On its own the exhaust frees restriction and drops 30 lbs from the rear, but the headline figures come with the tune.
What is the Valvetronic Supersport X-Pipe made from? It is built from 14 to 16 gauge T304L stainless steel with helical valves chosen for heat resistance. T304L is an aerospace-grade stainless that resists heat and corrosion for the life of the car, and the 63.5mm quad-resonated X-pipe is shaped to keep flow strong while taming resonance when the valves are closed.
Is the valve controller included? No. The system works with the car’s factory valve control out of the box, but the push-button Fabspeed valve controller is an optional add-on at 495.95 dollars that gives you full manual control of the valves at any time. Many R8 owners add it so they can open or close the exhaust independently of the drive mode.
Is it a bolt-on installation? Yes. The Valvetronic Supersport X-Pipe is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory rear muffler system and needs no cutting or welding, using the original mounting points. Fabspeed provides an installation guide, and while some owners fit it themselves, a professional exhaust shop can complete it quickly and confirm the valves and tips are aligned.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance.
