What does the Fabspeed Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe for 991.2 GT2 RS do?

It removes the heavy, fragile OEM titanium center muffler and replaces it with a larger-diameter T304 stainless steel X-pipe. That frees up exhaust flow and opens the note into a deeper, more exotic sound, and Fabspeed reports it adds around 20 horsepower. Because it is a cat-back component, it leaves the factory catalysts and emissions equipment in place.

Yes. The Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe for 991.2 is a cat-back component, so it leaves the factory catalysts in place and is legal in all 50 states, including California. It sets no check engine light and needs no tune. It is one of the few GT2 RS exhaust upgrades that adds sound and power while staying fully emissions legal everywhere.

How is this different from the Sport Cats and Competition Link Pipes?

This X-pipe is the mildest and most legal of the three. It keeps the factory catalysts, is legal in all 50 states, and simply swaps the center muffler for better sound and flow. The Sport Cats add high-flow catalysts and are legal in 49 states, while the Competition Link Pipes run straight through for closed-course use only. Pick this one if California legality and simplicity matter most.

How much louder and more powerful is it?

Fabspeed reports around 20 horsepower and a noticeably sharper throttle response, along with a deeper, more aggressive tone than the muted factory setup. It is louder than stock but not as extreme as a full race exhaust, since the catalysts stay in place to smooth the sound. Most owners describe it as the sweet spot for a street-driven GT2 RS.

Does it fit any other 911?

No. This X-pipe is made specifically for the 991.2 GT2 RS built from 2017 to 2019 with the 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six. It is not designed for the 991 Turbo, the GT3, or earlier 911 models. Fitment is specific to the GT2 RS.

How hard is it to install?

It bolts into the factory mounting locations and takes about 30 minutes, making it one of the easiest performance upgrades for the car. No tuning or ECU work is needed. Professional installation is still recommended to ensure a proper seal and fit.

Description

Fabspeed Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe for 991.2 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Fabspeed’s Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe for 991.2 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the simplest way to free up the sound and breathing of the ultimate street 911 while keeping it legal in all 50 states. It removes the fragile OEM titanium center muffler and replaces it with a larger-diameter, CNC mandrel-bent T304 stainless steel X-pipe with a lost-wax investment-cast center section, built at Fabspeed’s Fort Washington, Pennsylvania facility. Because it sits behind the catalysts as a cat-back component, it leaves the factory emissions equipment untouched, so it adds around 20 horsepower and a sharper, more exotic exhaust note without a check engine light or a tune, and it bolts in inside about 30 minutes. It is the easy first step for a GT2 RS owner who wants more character with none of the compromises.

Sound and Flow, No Trade-Offs

The GT2 RS hides a serious voice behind a heavy, fragile titanium muffler built for the street. Swapping it for Fabspeed’s X-pipe opens the note into something closer to a race car and lets the engine breathe more freely past the turbochargers, yet nothing upstream changes, so the car still passes emissions everywhere and throws no codes. For many owners it is the ideal balance: a real step up in sound and response that keeps the GT2 RS fully street legal.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
