Valvetronic Designs Exhaust System for McLaren 720S

Valvetronic Designs’ Exhaust System for McLaren 720S addresses the one thing the car does less convincingly than it accelerates. The 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 will run a sub ten second quarter mile, and yet its voice has never quite matched what the chassis and the drivetrain promise. Valvetronic designs and fabricates every system in house in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, and this one is built entirely from aerospace grade 5 titanium, mandrel bent end to end, precision TIG welded, and 18.1 lbs lighter than the Factory Equipment it replaces. A stand alone vacuum valve system with a key fob controller puts the character of the car in the driver’s hand: composed on a long highway run, unmistakably exotic the moment the valves open. Installation is 100% bolt on and fully reversible, and with four configurations offered, the Exhaust System for McLaren 720S is specified rather than simply bought.

Sound and Valve Control

With the valves closed the Exhaust System for McLaren 720S is subtle and composed, suited to street driving or long highway cruises. Open them and the tone turns crisp and high pitched, a motorsport edge at refined volume rather than sheer noise. The stand alone vacuum system operates independently of the car’s own electronics and is controlled from a key fob, so the factory wiring is left undisturbed. On the Double X-Pipe F1-race configuration there is no valve in the rear section at all, and the result is the purest F1 inspired voice Valvetronic offers for this car.

Titanium Construction

Grade 5 titanium is the reason the Exhaust System for McLaren 720S weighs what it does. The full 3.0 inch tubing is mandrel bent along its entire length for unrestricted flow, and every joint is precision TIG welded for strength and longevity. Fit and finish are held to an OEM level, which on a 720S matters as much as the sound, and the system is finished with Valvetronic Designs titanium burnt tips.

Choosing Your Configuration

Four configurations of the Exhaust System for McLaren 720S are offered, and the choice comes down to how much of the car’s voice you want on show. The Double X-Pipe F1-race option runs without a valve for the sharpest and most race derived tone, while the Valved X-Pipe with Muffler keeps the integrated muffler and gives the full quiet to loud range on demand. Each rear section is paired with your choice of Sport Valved Exhaust Free Flow Pipes or Sport Race Exhaust Free Flow Pipes at the front, which increase flow, quicken spool and add a further step in volume.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
