The GR Corolla Intake is an advancement of the GR Yaris system, which was meticulously designed through comprehensive data logging of temperatures, flow rates, and dyno testing. As the engine is turbocharged, the primary considerations during development were heat and volume. The intake system is specifically designed to deliver the highest possible flow rate while maintaining the lowest feasible intake temperatures. Each component is carefully designed to supply the turbo with a seamless and unrestricted flow path. A sealed system design surpasses the OEM airbox’s Intake Air Temperatures (IAT”s) while simultaneously increasing internal volume to diminish the pressure drop, thereby reducing the turbo’s pumping losses. This enhanced efficiency permits the turbo to reach peak boost more quickly, producing a net gain in performance.

The Eventuri Difference

• The GR Corolla Eventuri system features patented carbon fiber housings, designed to provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. Unlike conventional cone filters with heat shields, this system leverages the Venturi effect to maintain laminar airflow and reduce drag on the turbo.

Dyno Testing

• The GR Corolla intake has undergone independent testing by reputable tuners like Limit1 in the US. Back-to-back dyno runs were performed on the same day, first using the OEM airbox, then with the Eventuri intake. The tests showed improvements in torque and power throughout the entire RPM range, delivering better throttle response and quicker acceleration.

Intake Air Temperature

• The intake system, unlike the stock airbox, does not draw air from the engine bay, which helps lower intake air temperatures (IATs). This reduction in IATs contributes to the performance gains observed in dyno testing. Data logs show lower temperatures at both the intake and post-intercooler, demonstrating the system’s efficiency.

Filter Housing Assembly

• The filter housing includes a custom generation 2 filter, aluminum inlet cowl, stainless steel bracket, and an integrated MAF section. The carbon pod surrounds the reverse-mounted filter, channeling airflow directly to the MAF section and turbo inlet tube without sharp directional changes, unlike the OEM system. This streamlined design reduces drag and enhances turbo performance.

Bespoke Cone Filter

• The system uses a large bespoke filter with a diameter of 210mm (8.3″), capable of flowing up to 940 CFM at 28″ H2O. The ISO-tested filter meets OEM filtration standards and remains dry, while the signature flow cones support the Venturi housing for optimal airflow.

Patented Technology

• The patented filter housing gradually reduces in cross-sectional area, accelerating airflow and maintaining laminar flow, similar to a large velocity stack. The design ensures an even velocity profile as air exits the housing, contributing to overall performance.

Carbon Duct

• The carbon duct channels ambient air from the front bumper to the filter housing. It maximizes the volume and seals against the filter housing with a rubber seal, preventing hot air from entering the system. The duct does not extend to the second grill opening to maintain airflow to the engine bay, reducing heat soak.

Rear Tube and EPDM Coupler

• The rear tube, designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), provides a smoother airflow path compared to the OEM tube. The EPDM coupler allows for engine movement while ensuring a secure seal between the tube and the filter housing.

Front Scoop

• Located behind the grill, the front scoop directs ambient air into the intake system, helping to maintain low IATs when the car is in motion.
