Eventuri’s 4.0TFSI V8 EA825 intake has undergone a complete redesign, optimizing the entire air inlet track to enhance the performance of the twin turbos. Each component was carefully developed to maximize airflow without creating counter-drag effects, resulting in exceptional performance improvements. The airbox lid features a raised central section, allowing for larger components like the flow collector and bigger filters, eliminating obstructions that typically restrict systems using stock lids. With a 43% increase in cross-sectional area compared to the original design, the turbo intakes now include dimpled inner surfaces, reducing friction along the boundary layers and creating an “air cushioning” effect. This design minimizes pressure loss, allowing for higher airflow volumes before the wastegate duty cycle engages, ultimately delivering greater overall performance.

Enlarged Airbox Lid

• The initial challenge in significantly increasing the intake volume was the airbox lid. The factory-installed version has a limited opening for the flow collector and restricted access to the filter elements. To overcome this, engineers designed an elevated section at the center of the cover, providing additional space for a larger system collector and substantial filters made from prepreg carbon. These filters are precisely fitted to match the original design while maintaining the factory mounting points for seamless installation.

Carbon Flow Collector & Filters

• The flow collector, which directs airflow from the filters to the turbo inlets, was initially limited by its factory design. After addressing this restriction, the revised version showed a significant increase in internal volume. This improvement allowed for the use of higher-capacity cone filters, offering greater airflow and a larger surface area for improved air particle filtration.

Turbo Inlets

• The most limiting component of the stock system is the turbo inlets. The OEM inlets not only have reduced internal volume, but also feature two flexible sections, with one located right before the turbine. This section is prone to disruption when exposed to pressure differentials during engine acceleration, causing turbulence. Although flow guides are installed at the outlet to mitigate this, they do not fully eliminate turbulence and present additional obstacles for air passage. To address this, Eventuri has eliminated one of the flexible sections, increasing the inlets’ capacity and reducing airflow resistance, which helps the turbos spool more quickly and efficiently.
• Eventuri could have finalized the designs at an earlier stage but chose to push beyond conventional boundaries by incorporating an innovative dimpled formation within the internal structures. The theory behind this approach suggests that small indentations can enhance fluid flow by reducing frictional losses along the tube, improving overall efficiency.
• Extensive research and development was conducted to simulate various shapes and sizes before arriving at an optimized design that significantly improves airflow through the intakes. This sophisticated design was made possible through advanced manufacturing techniques, which offer the precision needed to achieve such results—something traditional methods would have lacked. The introduction of dimples creates an “air cushion” effect, reducing surface friction and allowing the main airflow to move more easily into the turbochargers. This approach results in more uniform velocity profiles within confined spaces while increasing overall airflow velocity, enhancing the system’s performance based on the findings of the study.

Dyno Testing

• An independent dyno test conducted by Eurocharged Canada compared the stock airbox to the Eventuri intake and showed consistent power increases across a broad RPM range. These improvements are attributed to lower wastegate duty cycles and earlier peak boost, resulting from the system’s greater efficiency. On the track, the performance gains were equally evident, with enhanced part-throttle response and stronger full-throttle acceleration sustained up to redline in both scenarios.
