The F90 M5 Eventuri intake system was developed through extensive real-world testing and airflow simulation analysis. Now in its updated V2 design, it features sealed filter housings to maintain more consistent intake air temperatures (IATs), even when stationary. The new shrouds that seal the housings, combined with the scoop and shield setup, ensure unrestricted airflow while keeping IATs low through cold air saturation. The large front air scoops channel ambient air directly into the intake area, preventing the engine from experiencing heat soak. Additionally, the gold heat-reflective shields, with integrated flow guides, direct air from the scoops to the filters. Eventuri also increased the inlet tube cross-sectional area by over 30% compared to the stock intake, allowing the turbos to work with less restriction and reducing waste-gate duty cycles.

The Eventuri Difference

• The F90 M5 Eventuri system features patented carbon fiber housings with bespoke Gen 2 filters, designed to provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbos. This is not just a cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design that uses the Venturi effect to maintain laminar flow, reducing drag on the turbos and enhancing performance.

Intake Housing Assembly

• The filter housings consist of bespoke generation 2 filters, aluminum inlet cowls, carbon shrouds, carbon pods, and integrated tubes. The carbon pods enclose the reverse-mounted filters, smoothly directing airflow to the stock turbo inlet tubes. This design eliminates the need for convoluted rubber hoses between the airbox and turbo inlets, creating a more direct airflow path. The filter housings and integrated tubes extend to the turbo tubes, moving as one with the engine through the strut braces. This setup removes the need for separate convoluted tubes used in the stock system, which require flexibility due to chassis-mounted airboxes, resulting in smoother airflow and reduced drag.

Internal Volume

• A key design feature of the intake housings is the increased internal volume as the tubes pass through the strut braces. On the F90 M5, the airbox system must pass through an oval opening in each strut brace before reaching the turbo inlets. Eventuri increased the internal size of the intake at this junction, providing more available volume for the turbos to draw from, thus reducing restriction. The cross-sectional area of the Eventuri intake system is 31% larger than the stock airbox.

Patented Technology

• Eventuri’s patented filter housings feature a smooth reduction in cross-sectional area as they taper down from the filters to the tubing. This design invokes the Venturi effect, accelerating airflow while maintaining laminar flow conditions, functioning like a large velocity stack. The bespoke filters aid in creating an even velocity profile as the air exits the housings, ensuring optimized airflow.

Carbon Shrouds

• The carbon shrouds are a recent enhancement to the intake system. They seal the openings in front of the filter housings from the engine bay, while still allowing airflow to enter the filters from the front scoops. The shrouds follow the design contours of the housings and extend toward the wheel arches, with a rubber seal that permits movement as the engine shifts. Crafted from high-quality prepreg carbon fiber, the shrouds not only complete the intake system but also add to its aesthetic appeal.

Heat Shields and Air Ramps

• The filter housings are positioned on top of laser-cut shields, which feature a gold reflective backing to reduce radiant heat transfer. These shields attach to the chassis and form an enclosure for the housings to draw cool air from. Integrated air ramps inside each shield help guide airflow from the scoops toward the filters. When the vehicle is in motion, the forced airflow from the front scoops is directed into the filter area, displacing any engine bay heat and maintaining cooler intake temperatures.

Front Scoops

• The final carbon components in this system are the front scoops, which are crucial for directing ambient air to the filters. These scoops were designed for maximum efficiency in channeling incoming air to the stock duct openings. Unlike many aftermarket scoops that feature large flat areas perpendicular to the airflow—causing turbulence—the Eventuri scoops are carefully shaped to guide air smoothly into the ducts, reducing turbulence and improving airflow.
• Unlike most aftermarket scoops, the Eventuri scoops are designed to extend from the stock duct openings all the way to the grilles. To maximize air capture, the scoops are contoured to match the shape of the grille’s outer edges, smoothly channeling ambient air through a continuous curve directly to the duct openings. This design ensures optimal airflow with minimal turbulence.
