Eventuri Black Carbon Intake System w/ 62mm Turbo Inlet for W205 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

The Mercedes W205 C63S AMG intake system is the result of extensive development and testing. Eventuri’s design focused on three main objectives: increasing flow rate, lowering intake temperatures, and smoothing airflow. The first goal was achieved by maximizing the use of the limited space in the C63S engine bay, leading to a 39% increase in flow rate compared to the stock system. To meet the second objective, they designed a fully sealed system, crucial for preventing heat from the nearby turbos from affecting the intake. The final objective was accomplished by creating an organically shaped system with custom rounded panel filters, ensuring a smooth airflow path without sharp corners, which helps maintain laminar flow. With smooth transitions from the filters to the turbo inlets, the intake minimizes turbulence, allowing the turbos to operate more efficiently.

Eventuri Difference

  • With all three objectives achieved, Eventuri’s W205 C63S intake system delivers exceptional performance, allowing the turbos to generate boost more efficiently. This results in improved throttle response and measurable power gains, which increase with higher states of tune. Recognizing the availability of various turbo upgrades for the C63S, Eventuri has also developed a specific solution for larger turbos. The C63S intake is offered in two configurations: 61mm ID outlets to match stock and hybrid turbos, and 3″ ID outlets to accommodate larger aftermarket turbos.

Performance

  • Dyno tests were conducted on both a fully stock C63S and a stage 2 C63S equipped with downpipes and a remap. For accuracy, the hood was closed during all runs to simulate real road conditions. Testing with the hood open, particularly with open cone-style intakes, does not provide a reliable indication of how the intakes impact power. On the road, the hood remains closed, trapping the intense heat generated by the turbos in the engine bay, making a sealed system essential. While open cone systems may show gains with the hood open during dyno tests, on the road, the heat soak causes a significant drop in power as these intakes draw in hot air. With higher air temperatures being less dense, the turbos generate less boost, resulting in lower power output. Additionally, during acceleration, open cone intakes will continue to pull in heat from the engine and turbos, which can become even more intense as the turbos spool, with the hot sides often glowing red under load.
  • The power increases become noticeable after 4800rpm, where the airflow demand rises and the stock airboxes start to create a restriction. These performance gains were measured solely by replacing the stock airbox with the Eventuri intake—no other modifications were changed between the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake.
  • The gains measured on the dyno translate to improved part-throttle and full-throttle response on the road, with the car pulling more eagerly to the redline. Testing was conducted on the same day, back-to-back, with temperatures closely monitored to ensure consistency. The car was first tested with the stock intake, hood closed, and then, while still on the dyno, the Eventuri intake was installed. The car was tested again with the hood closed, and several runs were performed with both configurations to obtain consistent results.
  • The following tests were conducted using an Insoric Road Dyno, which measures performance data directly on the road. CF Dynamics carried out the tests in Germany on the same stretch of Autobahn and on the same day, comparing the stock airbox to the Eventuri system. This particular C63S was equipped with a stage 1 tune. As shown in the results, after 5000rpm, when the engine’s flow demand increases, the stock airbox becomes restrictive. The Eventuri intake achieved gains of 31hp and 39nm.

Flow Bench Test Results

  • Eventuri conducted flow rate tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum flow rate achievable at a pressure drop of 28” H2O. The tests were performed on the same day under controlled conditions, using the same test rig for each system. They tested their sealed intake with a custom filter, the stock airbox with the stock filter, and an open cone tubular intake with a tube matching the diameter of the stock turbo inlet. Both the left and right side airboxes were tested for comparison.
  • This demonstrates how restrictive the stock airbox is, with Eventuri achieving up to a 41% improvement in maximum flow rate. Interestingly, while the open cone intake flowed more than the stock system, it did not surpass the flow of Eventuri’s sealed system. This is because the intake tube diameter remains constant from the turbo outlet to the cone in the open cone system. In contrast, Eventuri’s system significantly increases internal volume from the outlet to the filter. The difference is akin to sucking through a straw versus sucking through a funnel.

About Eventuri

Eventuri was founded by a team of engineers and enthusiasts with a background in Aeronautics and tuning – all sharing a passion for cars and performance. After owning various intakes over many years for their own cars and being disappointed with the gains which seldom lived up to their claims – they decided to take things into our own hands and rewrite the book. To set a new benchmark in intake design and technology, above all – to engineer systems which provide real gains and then to publish genuine figures. Their systems are extensively developed using cutting edge design, testing and prototyping methods. With a focus on performance, each design undergoes CFD analysis and is then validated at the prototype stage through volumetric airflow, intake temperature and extensive dynamometer testing. They strive to publish all the development information to illustrate the depths they go to in bringing an intake from concept to reality. Only the best materials are selected for each component – even down to the choice of fasteners and fixings in order to ensure that the quality of the end product is second to none. After many years of disappointment with the usual aftermarket intakes, they are proud to be raising the bar and creating intake systems which are setting a new standard and genuinely improve the performance of your vehicle.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
