Do the Endless Brake Pads for W166 fit both the GLE63 and the GLE63 S?

Yes. Endless lists the Brake Pads for W166 vehicles, EIP162 front and EIP231 rear, for both the GLE63 and the GLE63 S from 2016 to 2018, provided the vehicle has the Brembo front calipers named in the Endless application. One listing therefore covers either trim, and each Front or Rear set covers both wheels on its axle.

Which GLE63 model years are covered by these pads?

Endless lists the 2016 to 2018 GLE63 and GLE63 S. It does not name the GLE63 Coupe, the ML63 AMG that came before the GLE name, or other years for this pair, so Bulletproof Automotive asks owners of those vehicles to check with us before ordering, and we will confirm the correct Endless pads.

Which Endless compound suits a GLE63 driven hard on the road?

MX72. Endless calls it a dual-duty compound, with minimal noise and dust, strong friction at low temperatures and a better pedal feel than a typical semi-metallic pad, which suits a heavy, powerful SUV driven quickly. Owners who would rather have the cleanest wheels can choose SSM Plus, rated by Endless for low dust, low noise and long life.

Can a GLE63 run MA45B at both axles?

Yes. Endless prices its endurance compound for both EIP162 and EIP231, so MA45B is sold as a Front set, a Rear set or a Front and Rear Set on this vehicle. It is a racing material, low in friction but stable for a whole race, so it belongs on a GLE63 used for track events rather than daily driving.

Are Endless pads noisy on a GLE63?

No, not in the street compounds most owners choose. Endless rates SSM Plus for low noise and low dust, and MX72 and MX72 Plus for minimal noise and dust. CC-Rg is the exception among the street-capable options, as Endless says it is noisy on the road, and the racing compounds are built for circuit use rather than quiet running.

Endless Brake Pads for W166 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 and GLE63 S

Endless’s Brake Pads for W166 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 and GLE63 S fit the 2016 to 2018 vehicles, the years after the W166 M-Class took the GLE name, with the Brembo front calipers Endless specifies in its listing. Both trims use the 5.5-liter twin-turbo M157 V8, and Endless gives them the same pair: EIP162 at the front, a shape it also lists for the Audi RS6 and the E63, and EIP231 at the rear, which Endless specifies at 15.5mm. For a GLE63 used as a quick everyday vehicle, MX72 is our choice, and SSM Plus is the one to pick if clean wheels come first.

Features

Endless pad shapes EIP162 front and EIP231 rear, the same for the GLE63 and GLE63 S
SSM Plus, MX72, MX72 Plus and CC-Rg for street and street-to-track use
Racing Group, W003, S330 and MA45B racing options
MA45B priced for both shapes, so it is offered front, rear or as a set
Every compound sold per axle or as a Front and Rear Set

Choosing a Compound

SSM Plus suits a GLE63 that spends its life on school runs and highways, with low dust and quiet stops; Endless does not list SSS for these shapes. MX72 is the better match for an owner who drives the vehicle hard, with stronger friction from cold and a better pedal feel, and MX72 Plus adds heat capacity for repeated big stops. CC-Rg and the racing compounds are offered for both axles, but they suit a track car more than a performance SUV, and CC-Rg is noisy on the road. W007 and W008 are left off: Endless designs both for carbon ceramic rotors, and this listing is for the factory iron rotors.

Every figure below is Endless’s own. Friction is the compound’s average friction coefficient, so a higher number gives more bite for the same pedal pressure. The rotor range is the band of rotor temperatures Endless designs the compound to work in, so choose by the temperatures your car will see.

Street and street-to-track compounds

SSM Plus (street): non-asbestos; friction 0.33-0.40; rotor range 0-550C (32-1022F). Low dust, low noise and long life. Braking builds with pedal pressure rather than a sharp first bite, for drivers who want clean wheels and a quiet car.
MX72 (street to light track): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.37-0.47; rotor range 50-700C (122-1292F). Minimal noise and dust, strong friction at low temperatures, reduced rotor wear and a better pedal feel than a typical semi-metallic pad. Endless’s dual-duty compound for a road car that sees the occasional track day.
MX72 Plus (street to circuit): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.39-0.47; rotor range 50-750C (122-1382F). Holds its braking force to higher temperatures than MX72, with stable control and a consistent pedal release. Endless aims it at cars on street tires that run on track.
CC-Rg (track day, street capable): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.38-0.45; rotor range 50-800C (122-1472F). High initial bite across a wide temperature range, even when cold, and modulation that works with the factory ABS under hard use. Endless notes it is noisy on the street; it is the step up from MX72 Plus for regular track days.

Racing compounds

Each option below is one choice in the Choose Compound menu. For a group, name your compound in the order notes and Bulletproof Automotive confirms it with your order. Every racing compound needs Endless’s bedding procedure: at 70 to 80 percent of normal pedal effort, bring the rotors gradually to 400C (752F), then let them cool below 150C (302F) before hard use.

Racing Group

ME22: dual braking style; friction 0.33-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Developed from ME20 with lower friction for control, for light to mid-weight cars or heavier cars on slower circuits. Endless rates it for street and track.
ME20: trail-braking style; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). High, stable friction at high temperature with low wear, developed for touring cars and rally. Works front or rear, with stock or racing ABS.
N35S: trail-braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Quick, sharp and responsive, with stable modulation under high temperature and load. Endless’s flagship rally compound, also run in FIA GT, and its suggested starting point for drivers new to Endless racing pads.
N05U: trail-braking style; friction 0.46-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). More bite than N35S, popular in sprint-focused Porsche Cup cars.
N05S: trail-braking style; friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Immediate high friction with little pedal effort, used in Japanese rally cars without brake boosters and in European and Australian sprint racing.
N30C: friction 0.50-0.60; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). High initial bite, gentle on rotors and low wear. A rally compound for cars without a brake booster.
MS20: friction 0.32-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). A low-friction rear pad with a flat torque curve and long life, for club racing cars.
MS25: friction 0.36-0.42; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Warms up gradually even under heavy braking. Endless pairs it with a higher-friction pad to prevent lock-up.
MS35: friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Mid to high initial bite with good modulation and control, a sprint pad for a wide range of conditions.
ML20A: friction 0.30-0.33; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). A rear compound with lower initial bite to prevent rear lock-up, for lightweight GT cars.
ML35A: friction 0.30-0.38; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Slightly lower friction with excellent modulation and wear, for lighter GT cars.
ML40A: friction 0.32-0.47; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Moderate friction that resists lock-up, an endurance compound.
S55G: Endless publishes no figures. It suits lightweight and front-wheel-drive cars, and the rear of front-wheel-drive cars, with high controllability.
PC35: Endless publishes no figures. More bite than N35S with high braking force and a stable pedal; Endless’s base pad for rally raid.
S41S: Endless publishes no figures. Developed for GT cars, including GT3, under high brake loads.

Sold as their own options

W003: trail-braking style; friction 0.40-0.45. Similar in character to N35S with better wear, tough and stable at high temperature with a linear torque curve; run in rally, touring cars, ALMS and PWC. Circuit only: Endless does not recommend it for the street and notes high rotor wear when cold.
S330: trail-braking style; friction 0.60-0.70; rotor range 300-850C (572-1562F). High friction for sprint racing, with good control at high levels and without accelerating rotor wear; run in Super GT, stock cars and GT2 and GT3 sprint racing.
MA45B: standard braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Endless’s endurance compound: low friction but stable for a whole race, with excellent heat resistance and wear. Most Nurburgring and Spa 24 Hours entrants run it.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
