About Bedding

• In order to maximize the effectiveness of circuit–specific pads that are made to function in high temperatures, utilizing the ‘bedding‘ process is required. This process requires preheating before hard–driving to ensure that the pads will not be adversely affected by high temperatures.
• Competitions at the highest level in motorsport such as SUPER GT, WRC and a few European events all require a “bedding–in“ period.
• Prior to utilizing semi–metallic brake pads, it is essential to complete an appropriate bedding–in process in order to guarantee the highest performance when temperatures are high, and to extend the life of both the brake pads and rotors.
• How to Bed:
  • When introducing a new item onto a circuit, the rotor should be heated to a range of 400–500° C, avoiding abrupt braking. Subsequently, atari can be added, and the rotor should be cooled to a temperature of 100° C or less in order to wrap up.
