CONCEPT:

This ambitious engineering project began with a review of factory spring rates and led to a goal of the following:

Increased in comfort in daily driving situations. Solution by studying factory spring rates and producing a softer but proportionate spring rate front and rear that maximizes the benefit of specific dual linear spring rates built into each spring.
Increased handling limits. Solution by utilizing the highest technology partner (F1 and Indy Car spring manufacturer Hyperco) and producing a secondary more sporty performance spring rate that engages when cornering g forces are loaded.
Increase in vehicle efficiency/range. Achieved by lowering the car as height is proven to correlate to aerodynamic efficiency and coefficient of drag.
Every day improved performance at a significant value. Solved by producing in bulk by the premier Tier 1 manufacturer, produced and engineered exclusively in partnership with Unplugged Performance. Proudly made in the USA.

WHY CHOOSE UNPLUGGED PERFORMANCE DUAL RATE LINEAR LOWERING SPRINGS?

Choosing UP dual rate linear springs means that you are able to enjoy a 15-30% softer spring rate around town than what is possible with low cost standard linear springs can provide with only one spring rate. After experiencing first hand, you’ll find that UP’s decision to take on the additional engineering work and production costs are well justified with UP dual rate linear springs because the technology allows for a softer ride than ever previously possible, all without giving up performance handling precision when it matters most. The primary spring rate (cruising around town over bumps and pot holes) is intentionally engineered to be as soft as possible for comfort. When the primary spring rate compresses under load (in spirited driving conditions) the second spring rate transitions in. The second spring rate is typically 30% more firm and acts to reduce body roll, increase grip and enhance precision. By comparison, when using lower cost single rate linear springs there is only one defined spring rate and therefore it cannot be made as soft because there is no second transition rate to firm up when needed. Alternatively, by comparison with lower cost progressive springs they allow a continuous range of spring rates but do so without the predictability, confidence and planted feeling of linear single spring rates. Performance drivers for decades have always chosen linear springs, this product is uniquely a dual linear rate engineered spring to allow high performance and high comfort.[/titlebox]

AERODYNAMICS:

During our comprehensive aerodynamic study of Model 3, we tested the efficacy of our Dual Rate Linear Lowering Springs using CFD, and the results were dramatic. After installation of the Moderate Version of our Dual Rate Linear Lowering Springs (1.5″ lower ride height), a decrease of 8.1% in total vehicle drag resulted, with a reduction of the total vehicle drag coefficient by 0.019 (factory ride height = 28.5″ baseline, measured at the center of the front fender).
We expect similar results for the Model Y and will release the data when our analysis is complete.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario.
