Does the Dinan E39 rear sway bar fit the E39 M5?

Yes. This exact part is sold for the full E39 5 Series lineup, and Dinan lists it directly on their BMW M5 parts page as well, so it's compatible with the S62-powered M5 in addition to the six-cylinder and V8 5 Series models.

Is the Dinan E39 rear sway bar compatible with all E39 engines, like the 525i, 528i, 530i, and 540i?

Yes. Dinan's own fitment data for this part doesn't restrict by engine, so it covers the full range of E39 5 Series engines from the M52 and M52TU inline-six through the M54 and the M62/M62TU V8 in the 540i.

What does the 3-position adjustability do on the Dinan E39 rear sway bar?

The bar has three mounting positions, letting you choose between a milder factory-like feel and a firmer, more aggressive setting that sharpens rotation and reduces body roll for spirited driving.

How difficult is installing the Dinan E39 rear sway bar?

This is one of the simpler suspension upgrades Dinan offers. It's a direct bolt-in swap for the factory rear bar with a documented labor time of about 1 hour, and it doesn't require dropping the subframe like a front-and-rear kit would.

Does the Dinan E39 rear sway bar include the front sway bar too?

No, this is the rear bar only. If you want a front upgrade as well, check Dinan's catalog for a matching front anti-roll bar for the E39 platform.

Description

Dinan Adjustable Rear Sway Bar 17mm for E39 BMW 5 Series and M5

Dinan E39 rear sway bar replaces the stock rear anti-roll bar on the E39 5 Series and M5 with a stiffer 17mm unit that reduces body roll and sharpens rotation, with three mounting positions so you can tune the balance to your driving style. It’s a simple, single-component upgrade that noticeably tightens up the rear end of the car without touching the front suspension.

Features

Solid 17mm rear anti-roll bar, a meaningful step up in stiffness from the factory bar
Three-position adjustability lets you dial in more or less rotation depending on preference
Reduces body roll for flatter cornering and more mechanical grip at the limit
Straightforward install with roughly 1 hour of labor, since it’s a rear-only bolt-in swap that doesn’t require dropping the subframe

Applications

BMW 5 Series: E39 | 1997-2003 | 3.0L I6 M54
BMW M5: E39 | 2000-2003 | 5.0L V8 S62

Notes

Rear bar only; pair with a front bar for a complete kit. Fits all E39 5 Series engines and the S62 M5.

About Dinan

Founded in 1979, Dinan is North America’s leading BMW tuner, developing, manufacturing, and marketing a full line of high-performance products for BMW, MINI, and Mercedes-Benz. Dinan works through a nationwide network of Authorized Dinan Performance Centers, including select BMW dealerships and independent BMW service and performance shops. The company’s warranty program, introduced in 1996 with BMW of North America’s cooperation, matches BMW’s new car warranty and covers Dinan enhancements and the vehicle itself for up to 4 years or 50,000 miles. That coverage lets BMW owners add real performance without risking their factory warranty. Automotive publications have tested Dinan-enhanced BMWs against some of the world’s most exotic sports cars for three decades, and the results consistently hold up. Despite that performance, Dinan BMWs keep the reliability and everyday civility BMW owners expect. The product line spans engine, driveline, and chassis components across the full BMW lineup, covering acceleration, cornering, and stopping power. Every Authorized Dinan Performance Center can help build anything from a single upgrade to a complete Dinan BMW.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
